re: Jeff Landry's refusal to admit his mistake on this anthem stuff is....something.

One team prioritizes being on the court for the Anthem and one doesn't. What is the misunderstanding?
That Iowa team has also not been present for the anthem in the past. Do they intermittently protest?

What a retard. You believe they accidentally miss the anthem? Nobody accidentally misses the anthem. Ever. Mulkey even was careful to frame it as non commitally as she could.
Not an accident. But not a protest. A choice consistently made to use that time to prepare for the game.
Does every SEC football team protest the anthem or accidentally miss it? Because not one of them is there for it.

Because there is no uniform rule blanketing the sport and its regular-season games, schools handle pregame pageantry differently. In the SEC, for example, all 14 member schools are in the locker room during the national anthem, although there is no written conference rule requiring them to be there.

Around 2009 this started to happen before that NFL players stayed off the field.
Don't take my word for it you can check it out for yourself.

Mulkey is based. She didn’t do this as a protest, when she says they go in at 12 minutes before the game I believe her.
Guarantee you never noticed it before.

Jeff Landry was in this group.
Now, instead of admitting he spoke before he understood and made a mistake, he's tripling down on this stupidity.
You know, it’s not always I agree with SFP on much of anything, but he’s dead on with this, and Landry rushing to comment on this without thinking it through or getting all the facts first only makes it more embarrassing.
But hey, if it’s a consolation, those looking to throw shade on Mulkey and LSU in social media and the MSM jumped in without looking too, so there’s no lack of very silly looking people over this nonsense.

It's embarrassing how many LSU fans have been suckered into this bullshite. As someone pointed out, USEFUL IDIOTS.
This is not a political issue, a protest or anything of the sort. This is an attack on Kim Mulkey, because she's a good coach and a winner, and they don't want that here.
Go back and look at the news stories on her in the past (hell, just the stuff that came out this season). For awhile, it was that she is too MAGA, didn't publicly back Britney Griner when she was arrested in Russia. Then it was because she wasn't all-in on the Covid thing, and didn't like the masks. That apparently didn't cause enough outrage, so now instead of lumping her in with Trump, they're trying to paint her as 'anti-American'.
Newsflash, none of this is political (Dem vs GOP), it's a power struggle within women's sports. They're trying everything they can do to discredit her and drive her out... so that those who are already on top, stay there. I don't think there are any idealistic virtues (right or wrong) on the other side for doing it, it's just an ugly power play.
The proper response from LSU should be "she's hired to win basketball games, and she's doing that. So frick you, she's our coach".
The proper response (if any) from the Louisiana governor should have been "Geaux Tigers, it's great for the state to have successful teams and we support them".
I don't even care about women's basketball other than 'oh great, LSU is winning now', but come on. This shite has been pretty obvious from the outset.
And now that Landry (and a bunch of useful idiots) have taken the bait, it's going to be done a lot more. We've just shown that we can be easily manipulated, so expect the same thing to happen with Kelly, Johnson, and any other coach here who happens to do well.

He should have used the Bongino rule.
On Dan Bongino’s podcast, he has a rule that he generally waits at least 48 hours to comment on any breaking events. This gives him time to study the issue from both sides and allows the smoke to clear. This is a good rule of thumb. Landry would have been wise to use it.

If this really was that big of a deal to Governor Landry, shouldn't he have picked up the phone and called Coach Mulkey first?
But nah...he ran to his tweeter and talked about removing scholarships from college athletes instead.

Perfect example of doing the right thing, but going about it the wrong way in my opinion.

I imagine the citizens of LA GAF about their governor displaying an IQ that may not be triple digits and then tripling down on his stupidity b/c he can't admit he made a dumb mistake.

I stand corrected, Loyola is definitely better than SU, but it ain't Tulane or LSU.
Posted on 4/5/24 at 12:34 pm to SlowFlowPro
Louisiana is hopeless. It’s why I left. Hence why Jeff Landry is governor. Not saying there were better options but it is what it is

What mistake did he need to apologize for? Anyone with an ounce of Patriotism and love of this country knows they need to have their arse out their respecting the flag and the Americans who died for this great country.

Probably for being a pandering retard that didn’t even understand what he was talking about before rushing to toss red meat to his knuckle dragging supporters.

I’ll patiently awake your manufactured outrage whenever there isn’t a single NCAA team on the field for the national anthem this football season.

For getting out of his lane and getting involved in the business of others.

Really??? It is disrespecting the flag to not be out there? Really?

the Americans who died for this great country.
The flag stands for freedom, right? Thousands of Americans of all colors, all religions and all political beliefs fought and died under that flag. Did they fight and die so the government could dictate to its citizens? Some may have, but most would say no.

You ever show up late to a game and miss the anthem? Most people have at some point. Guess that makes you unpatriotic as well as a dumb frick.
