Golf clothes. You never want to be invited to play golf and think “I’m not dressed for that”.

Golf shorts, polo and ankle socks. Or jeans button down and boots. Or any athletic gear

What do you do? You need clothes that are appropriate for your daily activities. A farmer and a minister have different wardrobe needs.

Mid 30s guy what should I be wearing
Maybe wash the sand out of your vagina first.

And yet we have an epidemic of trashy losers that "wear whatever the hell they want".
We groan over the American male losing any semblance of style or pride in dress, yet bash a young dude making an effort to figure it out.
Thank you.
When I read 90% of the posts on tOT that are men's fashion related I am reminded of the death of the cultured gentleman. The wear what you want and is "comfortable" idea is how we ended up with moo moos, pajamas, and house slippers in Walmart. OT will mock the hell out of those pictures and have amnesia when they look in the mirror.

Pick up a recent edition of GQ and see what other men your age group are currently wearing.
Invest some money in good quality clothes that fit you well. Don’t neglect the shoes either. Save the sneakers for the gym. A grown man in his 30s should have a good pair of brown and black dressy shoes in his closet. Several good quality sport jackets to go along with different shirts as well.
Let everyone else dress like a bum. YOU choose to be better and stand out.

It's true - a good portion of my family is LDS and I'm a great admirer of their efforts to refrain from swearing.
Lay off my dude Winston.
He’s a good guy with solid political views who just happens to live behind the lines of our current cultural divide.
If you had to walk around Portland and didn’t want to be celibate you’d probably dress a little different than you would in Louisiana too.

Sagging cargo shorts with boxers hanging out of course

Have the mindset that when you leave your house you are representing yourself which includes but not limited to character, personality, responsibility, values, and ethics. You never know who you will see or meet that day, and you don't want to wish you looked better afterward.
My grandfather influenced me on this. He was a blue collar worker all his life but owned his own business. He always dressed nice and wanted to improve himself. I noticed that everywhere we went we would get respect and accommodation.
I hired a middle aged employee a couple years ago which required upscale casual/professional dress. I set him up with several high quality clothing places to get a wardrobe and paid for it. He never had that before. To this day he talks about the difference how he is treated in public and simply how it has made him feel better about himself. Much more respect, accommodations, getting the benefit of the doubt, etc.
Dress in clothes that you feel comfortable with which also represents you.

I'm 40 and have simplified my closet with mostly solid colors that match everything.
A couple pairs of jeans, non-athletic joggers, and couple pairs of casual slacks.
I've also switched to all-natural material like 100% cotton and merino wool. No more synthetic clothing.
Brands that I like: Bearbottom, Flint & Tinder, Taylor Stitch, Woolly, Faherty, Flag and Anthem.
For shoes I have a few pairs of retro (90's) style Saucony and New Balance, Thorogood boots, Chukkas, and a couple causal slip ons.
Hope that helps.
