Remember the milk pouches? Or when you could finally use the salad bar?
Yes! I forgot about the salad bar. I think we had to be in 5th grade for that.
Using your straw to blow up the empty milk bags and then popping them.
Something about milk in a bag just sucked. The plain milk tasted awful, so I had to drink chocolate every day...and it was nowhere near as good as chocolate milk that you buy at a store.

Did this too. We would wrap up something with duck tape and make a baseball. We took turns having hitting practice. Suprisingly, the ball would travel a nice distance when hit solid.
For sure
And they counterpart to this is that someone actually having a fresh tennis ball or similar was a luxury

Crap I forgot about those!! I remember accidentally stabbing though them with my straw and having milk leak all over the tray.

I don't know about anyone else but we used to spend hours picking wild blackberries in the spring. I was driving around a couple days ago and saw all the bushes along fences and ditches making the little white flowers and was hit with that memory. The store-bought blackberries are trash compared to the wild ones I remember.

Wanting to have the coolest dirt bike.
Hiding stuff in the woods.
Avoiding the hobo (whether he existed or not) when hiding stuff in the woods.
Jumping off structures or other insanity at public pools.
Going to the mall arcade and record store.
Parents/adults smoking in the house and at their office.
Playing records and cassette tapes.
Having cars that always broke down or had flats.
Playing youth baseball when most parents didn’t care much or show up to every game, and a drunken coach.
Going to pizza arcades for someone’s birthday.

I was 3 when I went to the World’s Fair in NOLA in 1984 - I’m sure others have memories of that

I remember around the mid or early 1970's a lime flavored drink in a bag like below think it was called a Pokem. They didn't stay on the market long I think kids were accidentally stabbing themselves with the pointed straws.
I looked online and on Youtube looking for a commecial but couldn't find anything .

Crawfishing in the old rice patties around Ponchatoula
Scooping crabs in Lake Ponchartrain
Fishing in the Rigolets, Lacombe, Lake Borne
Picking huckleberries and blackberies and mayhaw
Digging holes in the woods, cover with sticks and pinestraw so no one could follow you
Climbing Magnolia trees to the top until you were swaying back and forth praying the top wouldn't snap off
Swimming and skiing in the Tchefuncte
Being gone from home all day long and nobody cared

I'm older than many of you so my memories may be a little different.
Getting home from school and watching "The Three Stooges", "Zorro", first runs of "Leave It To Beaver", "The Mickey Mouse Club" with Annette Funicello and Cubby.
Digging worms from the empty lot in the neighborhood to use as bait to catch catfish in the Mississippi River.
Soaking cat tails in kerosene to use as torches when exploring "the caves" of the old Chalmette Slips.
Swimming in the Violet Canal in the summer.
