California Democrat proposes tax on gold, cotton, tobacco, and other 'slave' goods to fund homes and schools for African Americans, in new twist on reparations
Wouldn't make more sense to simply "tax" the Democrat party for their role in maintaining slavery and opposing its abolition.

s long as we can put a tax on black people for every item they purchase that was originally invented by a white person.
I'd rather see a tax on them for every violent crime they commit.

Well that's one way to promote and encourage more slavery.
And this will never happen, unless you count leftist NGOs and california gov contractors as black residents.

The tax focuses on the sale of goods linked to the transatlantic slave trade
So, this idiot is also proposing 100% tariffs on everything imported from a majority of the northern two thirds of the continent of Africa, right?
Because the Africans who sold their own people to white European slave traders, profited immensely. Why is this inconvenient truth always ignored? the Bono State, Ashanti and the Yoruba chieftains and leaders amassed generational wealth for their people through the kidnapping, enslavement and sale of other fellow African countrymen, women and children.
Fact.

Every crime committed by a black person reduces the total amount of (it ain't happenin anyway) reparations by 1% per crime...
There would be no reason to further discuss the reparations subject within, what, 30 days?!

Nothing more than blatant vote buying & forced redistribution of wealth with the added bonus of victimizing ignorant African Americans
If there was a law that prevented politicians from campaigning on taking money from one segment of society and giving that money to their potential voters/constituents the Dim/Groomer party wouldn't exist.

Are they only going to tax white people? Because that’s the only way this works. Otherwise you’re taxing the slaves for their production.
Quite the conundrum.

Why not a tax on modern day slave made products like Nike shoes and iPhones?
Posted on 3/30/24 at 1:34 am to djmed
There also needs to be a Hennessy and courvoisier tax.

How's about putting a tax on STUPIDITY? California Democrats surely have enough of that to bring in some serious cash so they can take care of the illegals.

I think California is the chief producer of Cotton, in the USA.
I picked cotton when I was a child, do I get reparations also?

Apparently yes.
From an LATimes article.
As Proposition 10 approaches its 25th anniversary in November, the “First 5” public agencies it created — named for the first five years of life — have hit a critical juncture as the decline in funding accelerates. A recent voter-approved ban on the sale of flavored tobacco, [b]including menthol cigarettes, is projected to lead to a 20% decline in First 5’s tobacco tax revenue by June 2024.
