Then when I looked at the game log and he pitched 6 shutout innings before the wheels fell off.
And yet you admit that the wheels did indeed 'fall off'.
Shoeless Joe Jackson had very good numbers in the World Series for the Sox. Yet he knew the entire time the games were fixed. He was banned from baseball for being an accessory.
There is no way you can ever prove that Ohtani didnt do the same

What bookies have apps?
Most all of them I think. I knew someone that took action locally and they had an app (or website can't remember) that people could submit picks through. It didn't cover the money portion of it though. This was 10+ years ago.

But how could shohei have known that the Angels would've left him in long enough in the 7th to give up 6 runs while giving up 0 runs through 6? It just doesn't make sense. Also the bet mentioned was braves over 6.5 runs

Why shouldn’t you care if an athlete is possibly shaving points and throwing games on purpose? Is this a serious question?

it’s literally only an issue if he bets on his own games.
some people are claiming he did, but the MLB is saying no.

Here was the one I saw on Facebook that didn't make sense. If you are trying to shave that many runs you don't pitch shutout baseball for 6 innings before you start shaving

Because you dont pull a pitcher who is doing his job. But when you get into the later innings, the damage is done, and less time to mount a comeback

How often is a coach leaving in a pitcher to give up 6 runs in an inning, much less the 7th inning, in MLB? He was just as likely to get pulled after the 3rd run and then the bets would've lost. It doesn't make sense

Look beyond his overall .375 batting average in that Series, compare Jackson’s numbers in the games the Black Sox were trying to lose and the ones they were trying to win … they weren’t trying to lose every game, they were trying to manipulate the betting line … and look at the play by play of the way he played in LF even if he didn’t get charged with errors. He wasn’t an accessory, he was in it up to his nostrils.

yeah that’s what i saw too and given where I saw it it could just be BS
it’s not like that ball left the planet, like a lot of HR it’s a fraction off the bat from being an out on the track.

I’d like to place a bet on how retarded you are for asking this question. I’d take the “over” on severely.

Easy step from gambling to stat shaving and throwing games. Huge monetary temptation to do it. If your sport is infected with that you lose your sport.
Agreed with your assessment, but the real answer is that the heads of these leagues want to still hold up this illusion that everything they do is "real", despite the fact they clearly use officiating to rig game after game after game after game.
Personally, I don't give a shite of players are betting on games at all. Never have. They are playing in rigged leagues anyway, why not allow them to make extra money? Especially NFL players when you consider how short their careers are and what it does to them physically.

Yep. As a CPA, if you are in public accounting you are not going to be able to hold stock in certain companies based on your firms involvement. I see this very similar
A player betting on their sport is pretty much the same as insider trading and shouldn't be allowed for the same reasons.

As long as it’s 100% verifiable a player should be allowed to gamble on their team winning games on moneyline imo
Spread and prop bets still off-limits

I compared it to FINRA rule 5130, where there are restrictions to purchasing IPOs when working for a broker-dealer. You may not have inside knowledge, but it could appear that way so you don’t do it.
People can try and get around it, but punishments are severe. I feel like sports gambling is the same way. You can try and do it, but you should be punished if caught.

Yes I'm serious. I don't watch this garbage and would not lose one second of sleep if baseball went away. Just curious to know gambling is such a high crime for something as completely useless as baseball.
BTW I never even heard of this yahoo until this gambling deal.
