While the rising number of immigrants in the US has sowed division among politicians across the country — and stoked angst among a swath of voters — there’s one place where almost everyone seems on the same, upbeat, page: Wall Street.
Last month, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) calculated that immigration will generate a $7 trillion boost to gross domestic product over the next decade. The agency came to that conclusion after incorporating the recent surge in immigration.
quote:
It’s hard to pin down the exact scale of the inflows of foreign-born people, thanks to many entering without visas or other documentation. But CBO statisticians incorporated data from US Customs and Border Patrol to come up with their higher projected net immigration, according to Morgan Stanley analysis.
quote:
The recent boost from immigration is the result of both more legal immigrants as the US goes through unprecedented visa backlogs and the surge in illegal border crossings. The nation’s 32.5 million immigrant workers now account for roughly one in five US workers, a record-high in government data going back almost two decades.

Not sure what to make of this. Happy, Sad or Ludicrous

Breaking news: an economy grows when there are more people.
I mean, no shite. GDP isn’t what matters
GDP/capita is what matters

Bloomberg is in favor of whatever is good for big business.
Unchecked immigration reduces wage costs.
Low wages are good for profits.
Hence Bloomberg is a fan of unchecked immigration.

I don't care. We're circling the drain right now and that is what matters.
A lot of Americans suck. We have a workforce here but they're sitting on their fat asses collecting "free" money, eating shite that masquerades as food and watching Netflix. It's pathetic.

Bloomberg is full of shite. The only way illegals (and that's what they mean by "immigrants") are "fueling US economic growth" is by taking the tons of tax and deficit dollars being given to them and spending that. What's driving the growth is consumer debt creation.
Neither of those options are the foundation of a strong and robust economic future.

Ask the parents of Laken Riley if they give AF about the GDP

Wait, you're telling me that this guy ringing a bell as he cycles through your neighborhood isn't a sign of a robust economy?

How long until democrats start demanding “reparations” for illegal immigrants?

How are people with no money and no jobs contributing to the economy?

Well I guess it is good.....geezus they should have added, "purple unicorns will be given to all children for Christmas due to the economic boom"
Bith are about the same truthfulness.

Of course most of that “boost” will be government funded in the form of welfare checks. Go long on dollar general and wal mart.

Well this is the biggest “no shite” news of the day.
All the reasons for hating immigrants are ignorant at best. They boost the economy, fill a void in our labor pool, add to our vibrant culture, and commit crime at lower rates than native Americans.

I’m hard pressed to remember anyone on this board stating they hate immigrants.
It’s the “illegal” part of this equation that most people, rightfully so, have had a major issue with.
Some folks are willfully obtuse to that small little aspect evidently. The law and bothersome little things like it.

What void is that?

Yeah the economy is just doing great. No inflation because of this cheap labor and a herd of unicorns was rounded up in the Mojave desert.
