Crazy story. But with all due respect, I am willing to bet California is a better place than where you live.
California isn’t terrible, it’s just what you give up to live there. If you wanna deal with everything being at least 2x as expensive, terrible traffic, a growing homeless problem, and overrated not-as-good-as-advertised weather (L.A.), if you like the beach and you need mountains, and you don’t care about or align with the batshit insane politics, California is really cool.
I moved to Nashville out of L.A. and bought a house 3x the size for 60% of the price. I don’t have to pay $350 to renew my car registration every year. Car insurance is way cheaper. Everything is, really. Fall is better in Nashville and I’ve noticed not much of a difference during the summers. Nowhere near the homeless problem anywhere near my place (I had a bum sleeping on my tree when I was showing the house one day in L.A.). And politically it’s not nearly as insane, yet.
People in Nashville think they’re catching up to L.A. in most of those categories and they have no earthly idea what they’re talking about.

Hell yeah man. I hope you love the change from California to Nashville. That’s not what I was trying to say at all. California is not some Mecca. I have no ties or allegiance to it. If you’re happy, you’re ahead in life.
I just always laugh at people in mandeville (as an example) sticking their noses up at a place that is not only better than where they live but they likely can’t afford.
“Camel by the sea is a a liberal shithole! frick all those people.”
-if I could afford to live there I’d be in heaven

But it has nothing to do with my original post that you responded to.
I mean, CA is an enormous state so I’m sure there are perfectly fine places to live there. Saying otherwise is silly.
Your original post was equally silly.

I guess I would argue that a mediocre town or city in CA has a likely chance of being as good or better than where the OP lives.
I could very well be wrong. But until proven otherwise my money is on CA.

I don't think Mandeville is a good example. It's a decent place to live.
I too laugh at people on this board who always shite on other places while living in LA, which is literally last in most living metrics. I left last year and couldn't be happier.
That being said, unless you're very well off, I don't see California (especially L.A.) as a desirable destination.

I picked mandeville because for whatever reason it gets so much praise on this board.
Nothing against Mandeville and the people who love it and live there. Genuinely I bet it’s a great place to live. But if you are sticking your nose up at the entire state of California from mandeville, yes I am laughing at you.

But you have no idea where this guys lives, so the implication of your post is that every “mediocre” place in CA is better than anywhere in the “fly over states”.
Which, again, is just as flawed an argument as saying everywhere in CA is shite.

First off, my first post in this thread did not presume the OP’s location. He or she is welcome to share that information.
Second, do not add quotations to the words fly over states. That implies that you’re quoting me, and I never used those terms.
And third, you saying my argument is flawed is laughable based on the above two statements.
And for added effect… you’re an idiot

I for sure would rather live in Mandeville than say a place like Sacramento.
It's all relative.
It's all relative.

My state has no state income taxes, no cannibalism, and you can walk down the street without stepping in a pile of human shite.

Whats crazy to me is when you think about how crazy it is for each individual event to happen. Someone getting killed and a leg severed… and then someone eating a human leg. Think about how the universe had to align to combine these events.

You're supposed to eat fried turkey leg, not a fried human leg. WTF!
