It seems the Cylons outnumbered the Colonials in the new series. What would the outcome be of a straight up war?

Assuming the backdoor crap didn't work.

We see just how devastating the newer Battlestars are when Pegasus bails out Galactica. Assuming humans could keep the Cylons out of their networks I'd say they have a shot.

From what I remember in the show I never got the impression that the Cylons outnumbered humanity pre-strike.

Assuming the analyst back door didn’t work, I still see the attack succeeding simply because having the eight models embedded in Colonial society plus the ability to repeatedly nuke the planets until most Colonials died off is still a feasible strategy.

Compromising the Colonial defenses like they did raises the success level greatly but the actual colonies still would have been fricked. It would have been a matter of “how much larger would the convoy have been” and “how many Battlestars and Vipers still get wiped out?”

after Colonials stopped the sneak attack from Cylons, the civil war now begins for survival

that would be a hell of a great new series they could do with todays CGI

i wouldnt trust them not to fill it full up with wokeness

The 2004 version of the cylon Infantry definitely has the advantage in the ground game

Without a doubt. The Cylons did not have that many basestars to begin with. what they had was infinite respawn thanks to their resurrections hub.

Had Baltar not let them in the back door to the Colonial defense, someone would have put 2+2 together with facial recognition matches for all the human models.

In the show, the 50 year old Battlestar Galatica in the intro movie held off 3 base star long enough for their fleet to escape. The Pegasus with a skeleton crew destroyed two base star before it died.

The Colonial ships were made to take everything a Cyclon could throw at it and counter attack. The Basestars is made to be a carrier and overwhelmed with superior numbers.

While I don't doubt they would get nuked or be able to nuke some target, it would not be on the scale as the initial attack have been. The vipers could and would intercept since they had closing speed.

TLDR: The second cylon war, had they been fought straight up, without the internet crippling, would have ended in a bloody Colonial Victory.

Also here is a montage of the Battlestar series of Colonials vs Cyclons. Cylons constantly got their ship pushed in in one v one situation.

I never finished the new series, but from the opening, I got the impression that the Colonials would win a fair, "both sides ready" war.

There would be heavy attrition from the Cylons nuking planets, but I think the Colonial fleet wins head-to-head, especially if they go on the offensive.

And honestly, that's why the premise of a truce was a bit stupid. The Cylons are machines with one objective- to wipe out humanity if they get the upper hand. As such, you need to eliminate them before they get that advantage. It's not an issue of morality (except in extreme philosophical circles), you are dealing with AI. If your Macs and IPhones try to kill your family, you destroy those devices and try to erase the programs. You don't wait until one can figure out how to shut off your pilot lights and flood the house with gas, etc.
