Movies that you should love, but don’t.

NOT MOVIES THAT EVERYONE ELSE LOVES BUT YOU DON’T. God we’ve done that.
Are there any movies that should be right up your alley, but for whatever reason, never really connected with you?
ETA: and maybe explain why, just to generate conversation.
I’m a 80’s kid, born in 1976. I’ve never really cared for The Neverending Story. My mother rented it on VHS when it first made it to rental store, I’d heard all the hype…and nothing. I’ve probably watched it once since then. I feel like I was their target demographic.

The original Ghostbusters. I never understood the hype even as a kid.

Interstellar. Every single box got checked before I saw it, but it fell flat for me. I might need to watch it again high this time.

This is easy. The new Dune movies. The director, themes, cinematography, all should be right up my alley. They bore me to tears.

Big Lebowski
Seen it probably 3 times. I like it just fine just don’t think it’s the greatest thing ever like many people

Don’t come at me but I thought Boondocks Saints was cringe. It’s ok but some people think it’s a top 10 of all time

Star Wars. Somehow as a kid never saw them. Decided at like 20 people love these movies and I'm fascinated with space. I actually hated the original trilogy. Tried watching them again in my late 20s and it was a chore to get through. Just not my cup of tea I guess.

The Fifth Element. My wife and kids love it and I can't get through it.

Same. I also get pretty visceral reactions from people, and considering my age, it should be right in my wheelhouse. It just doesn't do it for me.

quote:This right here. People told me I'd love it and it just falls flat with me. The Tarantino-esque humor attempts are too cornball for me.
