How can they fix the NBA to be enjoyable again?

As a kid in the early 90s, basketball was my first love and there was nothing better. In the last 10 years, my interest has gone down and in the last 5 years, I barely watch any games. I will watch some highlights on SportsCenter to see what is going on but I know a lot of people that feel the same way. Hell, college basketball used to be great and I barely watch it now unless it’s LSU and March Madness. All the good players leave after one year and I have to keep learning the new players every year.

I think as we get older we can't help but notice that basketball is a flawed sport. It's just not as fun to watch once you realize the patterns and the flow of the game, etc.
Football never gets old to me but basketball is just ugh.

First, find players that don’t openly hate white people.
Go from there.
Go from there.

this is probably correct.
jordan made basketball cool, but remember that it was mostly an afterthought in america before him and is slowly becoming that again.
its too cartoonish of a sport...no different than watching two kids play table tennis or something

Obviously going back to having street fights every night like the 80s

I hate that everybody is friends and I miss the hated rivalries of those days.

This is a much better explanation than the "80s and 90s were better" meme.
Go back and watch games. It was garbage, and the late '90s and early 00s almost literally killed the NBA.

The pendulum swung too far in favor of offense. I was a 90’s kid, and I understand that maybe it was too defensive oriented. I guess I’m old man yelling at cloud, but seeing each team jack up 3’s all game isn’t very exciting. You may as well not watch a game until the 4th quarter, as no lead really means anything until then.
I had way more love for the NBA in the 90’s and 00’s. I think the product was great in the early 2010’s. The last 6-7 years have not entertained me.

What is flawed about it?
Don’t confuse hating the players for hating the sport

Same here. There is no mid-range game anymore. It's all 3 point shooting, and it makes the game boring IMO.

The NBA has a slight wokeness issue, but that's not really a make or break point.
The game just feels played out. The stories have all been told, the underdogs, the ones who overcame adversity, the chosen ones, etc.
Nba players just don't come from anywhere anymore. They don't have the everyman appeal they once had. If you look close enough you'll see a large chunk are related to ex-NBA-ers who did the whole prep school AAU circuit.
Also, nba players don't have much attachment to the cities they play in either. They all spend their off-season in Los Angeles or traveling abroad. The only time they're in the city they play is for home games or preseason.
I'm not sure the nba is to blame as much as the new basketball pipeline culture in which Nike has more power than Adam Silver.
Also, basketball is one of those sports that doesn't have as wide appeal as other sports like football or soccer because the best people have freakish athletic features that can't be taught. It's a really small pool of freak athletes.

It’s because the game has turned into just pushing and shoving, banging into the other player, shoving away the defensive player with with the hands and arms, carrying the ball, and just a general lack of real basketball as intended.

My Dad once upon a time listened to UCLA and the Lakers on the radio...said later, what a complete waste of time.
This was back in the the 60s, 70s.
We watched Magic and Bird on TV. He stopped watching around then 40 years old. I watched Jordan of course and Kobe and Lebron but quit the NBA at around 30. I haven't watched a full NBA game since the Kings-Lakers 2002 and only watched all of it because I was, curious how the league would push the Lakers to the Finals. Basketball is a total waste of time...just check in with 2 minutes left...that's how it was under Stern.

A real get off my lawn moment. Superstars come and go and rules are always changing in every sport. But the NBA is forever.

I miss Bird, Mchale, Magic, Dr. J, Andrew Toney, Bernard King, and Kareem. It'll never be as good as those days of the early to mid 80s

Ikr. Luka and Jokic absolutely despises white people. It's so sickening.
