My great grand parents came thru the port of Orleans in a ship that had perishables on it. Approx 1885. That way they didn't stay long on said boat. Unlike the immigrants that came thru new York did. They worked the sugar cane plantations in plaquemines parish. Saved their money and bought land in Tangipahoa parish and grew strawberries. I have been fortunate enough to have met my relatives in Sicily in 1972 then again in 2022. My paternal grandparents property was right at the I12 tickfaw exit. In 1959 the govt bought 20 some odd acres from them to build the interstate. My family just sold 30 plus acres on the southeast side where Loves is about to start building a truck stop. We talked to buccees but they said nope.

On my father's side, my great grandfather was from Palermo and my great grandmother was from Messina. Her last name is a town south of Messina. I've learned all this in the last 4 years, so it is pretty cool.

There are several other names, but can’t recall them now.

Eh, have you done the math on that? It doesn't quite add up.
I do enjoy that they refine data over time. A decade ago, 51% of me was English. Now, I learn that 35% of my total is Irish/Merseyside. The rest is African, and somehow, there is a good chunk of sub Saharan African.
The Med is an interesting heritage experience. The Romans ruled and procreated with most of North Africa. There are ships going everywhere, all the time, for thousands of years. The Moors took a lot of Spain, etc.

I literally copied it from the 23andMe website. Would you rather me take a screen shot and you can do your own math?
