They really over built that thing. It's still really only a parish prison and there is nowhere near enough crime to need a facility that size. That's why they also get inmates from surrounding parishes and federal.

Having a surplus of prison cells is better than a shortage. That's what my uncle Olaf used to say.

I spent a night in Port Sulphur lockup and got transferred there the next morning. I left on foot within an hour of arrival. I had cash and borrowed 20 bucks to cover the fine. It was for a traffic ticket. Plaquemines can be rough.

Thing is you can do this legally if you get an ATF explosives license. 3 year license for 200 dollars.

Your cause and effect is backwards here. They built it big so as to be able to house state and federal detainees, for which they get paid.

This revenue stream is substantial, and may well pay for the whole jail.

It's a government grift.

North LA funds a lot of those parishes that are effectively dead this way. It's all just sucking at the government tit for areas that can't be economically viable on their own. A much smarter version of the "speed traps funding the town" bullshite.

They’ve already pivoted to him being a fed agent trying to frame good people in a govt sting.

This is true, going over there from New Orleans during covid looked like a completely diff country.

And at least the old Vietnam vet with the American flag instead of the Ukraine flag knows what a woman is.

MAGA or Antifa, that is not the question.

The question is why the hell is a dude in Madisonville making IEDs?

Evidently, he answered that (when questioned).

Waiving Miranda rights and welcoming the Feds without hesitation doesn’t sound like a typical “terrorist.”

He may be nuts, he may be a guy blowing shite up in his back yard, he may be both.

The truth will eventually percolate out to the public sphere.

In the meantime , nitwit can pleasure himself to the visions of he and his ilk attacking his rural / suburban neighbors.

Who said there was?

ETA: why was it wrong to raid his house if he were buying equipment to make bombs (and he was investigated previously).

You will have to be more definitive in your definition of that term.

I mean, the left calls people that believe that women can’t have penises as “right wing whackos.”

Wierd post by you. The FBI gave the info to atf. That's how it should work. But be clear, the reason this happened was because the FBI did its job.

How reliable is the FBI on these types of charges. I have a co-worker that was indicted and arrested by the FBI for some pretty heinous charges.

Is his goose cooked or what?

My gut is he going the Fed prison.....or do they often make huge mistakes??

I would suggest that he is going to have some legal issues coming from this.

He may be crazy, ignorant, or both.

No matter what, this guy should not have been doing this, especially in an area like Madisonville. Unless he lives near the marsh, or near 22 going towards Ponchatoula, then he probably has neighbors close by. It really is unacceptable, regardless of the justification.
