My bow has sat for 5 yrs. What to do to use?

So for various reasons my new Bowtech bow, was shot maybe 25 times to get sighted in etc and then I didn’t use it for 5 years. Stored inside in climate controlled house. Out of sun.
I’d like to hunt with it again. What would y’all suggest I do to check it out and what should I look for. What would a reputable outdoor place suggest and do and the likely cost? The string looks good but that’s the thing I’m most unsure of. TYIA.

What is your 20? For a few bucks, there are some good professionals they will check it out for you.

cabela's or bass pro will probably do it for free if you bring it in and explain the issue, but you weigh the risk of the tech not being an expert, but they should be able to trouble shoot it.
If the strings still have a good wax coating, they should be okay.

If you are in north LA go to TP Outdoors in Monroe, Simmons in Bastrop, or Spotted Dog in Columbia.
All of them have very good archery departments and I'm sure any of these would be happy to check it out for you.

If it’s been inside your house I wouldn’t worry, just go shoot it.

Check cam timing, if gtg wax strings, shoot.

Personally, I'd probably just start shooting it again. I know I've shot bows with strings worse off than that.

I’d just shoot it but you can measure the axle to axle to the center of the axle. If it’s more than 1/8” long off of whatever the factory spec is, the strings have probably stretched a little and the cams are probably a little out of time and your draw weight won’t be as high as advertised.

Austin’s Outdoors at St Landry Lumber in Opelousas can fix you up

Bayou Land is no longer dealing Bowtech but Brandon can slap a new set of strings and cables on there if need be. Austin’s outdoors in Op also can.

Please don’t do this

Nothing to worry about. Shoot it. Your strings should be perfectly stretched by now. You will likely need to retune which is no big deal. Are the timing marks still lined up?

I would have zero issues shooting it. I actually would never even have thought of getting it checked out.

I agree with the above. Shoot it. Will likely need to be tuned.

I take my bow to TP every few years - the technician that did my tune up a few years ago was a young guy - knew his trade - fast forward a few weeks, that young man was hauling a monster out of TNWR damn near across the river from where we were at.
