Should've leased it. No one with any level of intelligence buys a German vehicle. Repair costs are through the roof.

My sister loves driving 500 series Benz. My BIL can’t fricking stand them. I told him to buy her a Lexus if she wants a luxury car but she insist on German. Pussy is undefeated.

Meanwhile my Toyota sedan has had no issues in 10 years of ownership but you had to impress your neighbors or other parents in the school pickup line

Isn’t Audi German for overpriced Volkswagen?

(a) Yes they do suck. This is riduculous.

(b) have an independent shop check it out, dealers suck after warranty is over. They can probably find a used engine for less than 5k. Also I would hit VW/Audi corporate hard over this, they owe you some trade-in credit. Make a lot of noise. THis car is too new to fail.

This exact problem happened to my brother in law in Q5 3.0 with 120k miles. He wound up getting an offer from Carfax for $5-8k for it and they probably swapped in a used engine and sold it again.

Audi/Germans suck unless you lease them for 2 yrs then hand off the inevitable repairs to someone else.

I've leased 3 Audis in the past and absolutely loved them.

I'd never own German out of warranty, however.

Coolant leaks and oil line leaks are dealerships favorite ways to charge $5k. frick them, get a good mechanic. Half the time the oil leak is totally bogus! Happens on my Beamer recently, bmw wanted $6500, highly qualified independent walked me thru it and said you see those oil stains? Thats from the oil change they just did on your car, not a leak.

With that said, buy a Lexus and don’t look back.

Own a 2019 Audi SQ5 and ran into to several of the issues mentioned in this thread. Replacing the brakes and one rotor without any warnings despite the Audi rotors supposedly having sensors to notify the driver whenever the pads are wearing thin. After the brake job, I damn near shat 6 quarts of oil due to a cracked oil filter housing unit. The Audi dealership wanted nearly $4k for parts and labor to replace. Found a local dealership to allow me to purchase my own parts and only charged me $800 for labor.

Despite all that crap, this suv is by far handles and rides better than any domestic suv. The Audi SQ5 even outperformed Cayenne that I owned for 2 years..

Btw domestics have their own fn issues bc I had numerous issues with my 14 f150

The twin-tubo audis are fun cars. But like others have said, do not hang onto them for long. You're just asking for trouble.

What dealer?

My thing is if you’re gonna get even a somewhat “luxury” car, you just need to lease. They’ll take care of the car because they know it’s still theirs

One week later, engine starts making a loud clicking noise. Brought in vehicle to dealer service department again, vehicle has a rod knock and engine has to be replaced. Cost estimate is $30k.

Hahahaha!

Dude. Get away from that dealership IMMEDIATELY.

First off… a “clicking” noise isn’t a Rod. A Rod knock is an unmistakable hammering or a blunt metal banging sound very loud and noticeable. A “clicking” noise sounds like valvetrain. You could have a collapsed lifter that could be fixed for a grand or two most, labor included.

2nd.. if it is a Rod.. then there is no friken way a repair should cost 30k. None. Zero. They quoted you a brand new, valve cover to oil drain, engine from Audi and included their ridiculous labor. Find a good shop and let them diagnose. Then sit back and be astounded how bad Audi has fricked you to this point.

European cars are great till they break. I had a Volkswagen that the dealership was never able to get the check engine light off. Had to trade it in like that.
My BMW was a total nightmare. Never again.
