Will Conroe decline like other northern Houston suburbs?

Housing up there seems surprisingly affordable (lots of new construction in the $300-400k range). It's a great area right now but at that price point, it could become another Spring or Humble.

I consider Conde a suburb of the Woodlands. A suburb of a suburb basically. Feels closer to south Dallas than Houston.

Conroe might actually be far enough away from Houston that it escapes. The telltale sign is apartments. The unrelenting apartment construction is what will kill Katy. Government subsidies are the cancer that spreads urban rot.

Every time I see a new apartment complex going up I think about what it will look like in 15 years. I'm sure that's not the case all over the country, but they pretty much all turn trashy here over a long enough time.

Humble/Anacostia area has gone downhill. Parts or Spring and Cypress are declining as well. Tell-tale sign is the price of real estate. Lots of 4bd, 2000+sq ft houses for sale in the 200ks.

I’m guessing he means the 1960 corridor which was a great place years ago and is now not so much.

Spring Klein Tomball are not as nice these days in my opinion.

I do like that when you enter Montgomery County they have signs about the DA prosecuting criminals.

I’m not from Houston but do keep up since I’m there a dozen times a year.

I think they fired their lightly tough on crime DA (Ogg) for a Defund the Police type.

I hope so. My retirement plans include a house on Lake Conroe.

Also Conroe is Conroe. It’s not a suburb. I cringe when people say they live in Houston. Oh yea, which area? Conroe…..ok dumbass.

That’s like saying Waco is a suburb of Austin.

The Montgomery County DA Brett Ligon and the sherif Rand Henderson are tough on crime. Much different situation that what Harris County residents deal with.

The best school in Gwinnett County has successfully held on because they have very few apartments being able to be built around it. Meanwhile, the rest of the county is sliding down.

I’m looking there now and can’t find a single place that I would buy that fits my needs.
