F these people. Racist pieces of shiat

Women's basketball needs faces of future to be Black. Enter JuJu Watkins and Hannah Hidalgo

Over the past few years, as women’s basketball has exploded in popularity, much of the media and marketing attention has focused on three prominent white players: Clark, UConn junior Paige Bueckers and Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu, who graduated in 2020.

Too often, the Black players who built women’s hoops — and who now dominate the professional level, where the WNBA is 70% Black — haven’t been acknowledged. Occasionally their existence has been wiped from the record books completely, like with former Kansas standout Lynette Woodard's Division-I scoring record not being recognized by the NCAA.
“I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault or been anyone’s intention,” Southern Cal coach Lindsay Gottlieb told USA TODAY Sports. “But there haven’t been enough commercial endorsements of Black female superstars in our society, period.”

It's because no one gives a crap about women's basketball on a large scale. Serena Williams got plenty of commercial endorsements.

Maybe, just maybe, it's because women's sports were not part of the NCAA at that time. Woodard doesn't hold the NCAA record because she never played in the NCAA.

If the WNBA had any brain power, they would play up the addition of Caitlin Clark into the league. Kaitlyn will bring huge interest to the WNBA for the first time because nobody knows anything about that week league. unfortunately, for the WNBA, they are acting like Kaitlyn Clark is an offense and has the nerve to join their exclusive league.

Because no one likes bitching women that look like men.

if they were good-looking, you could overlook some of the shite, but they are on the whacked-out im ugly and crazy matrix.

Well, the reason companies don't want black female basketball players on their TV commercials is probably the same reason they prefer female tennis stars more than female golfers. The female golfers are ugly and lesbian.

Until a few years ago NO ONE was the "face of women's basketball" because the marketplace didn't give a shite and the networks hadn't gone into full gaslighting virtue-signal mode trying to make the public think women's basketball was more popular than it actually is. Nevertheless, just behind Clark in the estimated NIL valuations, who is clearly the best individual player in the game, are two black players: Angel Reese and Flau'jae Johnson (you may have seen them on an Amazon commercial together).

The AP preseason all-American team had 6 players. 5 where white. I'm CERTAIN the author would just chalk that up to "institutional racism". But what if there were a world where they were named to the All American team because they were (trigger warning) thought to be the best players? And what if there were a world where several of the best players were...gulp...white?

Both are freshmen. So it is ENTIRELY likely they will be some of the "faces" of women's college basketball going forward. But why would anyone think marketers would make them such before they even played a game of college basketball? They've earned their notoriety and I'm sure it will come.

No other American sport is more associated with being a "black" sport than basketball. But with that comes animosity from people whose only viewpoint centers around skin color when someone who is not black has the audacity to be good in a "black" sport.

This Clark chick out of Iowa really triggered a lot of "proud black people."

Im kind of pulling for her to be honest.

And you put so much attention into one journalist's opinion on a sport I doubt you watch much or at all, why?
