He puts in Frey when the bats are struggling and the game turns around

Not sure how making a basic pinch hitter matchup decision is genius, but yeah, he's a good coach.

He pinch hit for true freshman Kucharek who has only seen mop up duty so far. It was the right call but it isn’t like he was way out on a limb or anything.

That was a good call, but it was pretty obvious to have a pinch hitter in that spot. Pinch Running for Travinski in the 7th didn't work out. Some calls work. Some don't.

tl;dr Jay knows more than us and is right more times than not

Combination of him putting him in and then calling him to the side and talked strategy right before the game changing hit.

I liked the Ack to finish the game call better! 3 Ks - all done.

He does seem to have a high IQ in baseball matters.

I love how he used his bench tonight. I don’t think he uses it enough historically

Agree the margin for error at that point was tiny. It was the right decision. Frey has a little more experience than some of the other guys we’ve seen pinch hit. But LSU hadn’t been in that spot yet this year. I’m just really glad for Ethan Frey. It’s so difficult to be effective when your opportunities are limited.
