I still miss the '78 Toyota Hi-Lux I had.
My 1st Gen Tundra may outlive me.

Those are some of the most reliable trucks ever made.

My stepmum has a '97 Tacoma that is still going strong. Granted, it has only around 20K miles on it b/c she barely drives it.

12k. it hasn't left the ranch in well over a decade and even when it was drivable it was mostly just used on the property.

Don't price one though. Clean, low mileage 1st Gens are going for downright stupid money now.

I get offers on my 09 almost monthly now because it only has 110k miles on it.

I hit a deer a few months ago, so it has a new front end now. The guy at the shop offered me $18k.

I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to hold on with these offers

Why does a 12 or 13 y/o pick-up (w/ only 12,000 miles on it) get left in a field for 10 years?

My old boss ( owner of the oil company)
Drove his very very old suburban every day..

When traveling we knew he got to the airport before us when he had it parked in front of the hanger where he’s had his net jets..

On a counter note I walk through campus every day …the amount of Audis ..bmw..rover..new Hondas etc in the student parking lots is ridiculous… saw a brand new full size mercedes.. and jag suv with student hang tags ( and not over by the athlete dorms …although lots of high end muscle cars over there)

This is like when people say that Bill Gates still drives a 2000 Camry as if he doesn't own 10 other cars that cost $100k+

Correct, he also owns at least two Lamborghini

It's a long story but the short version is my FIL left it on his deceased brother's property and his wife was a world class a-hole. She just passed and we were finally able to get it without getting shot with rock salt. It also wasn't a huge priority because until i built my shop there last year we didn't have anywhere better to keep it honestly.

Ever wonder what packrats do to a truck left next to the feed trailer?
Here's the airbox:

The CEO of my company drives a 99 4runner SR5. He just got his 1st smartphone about 5 years ago, but only uses it for work purposes. He uses his ipod classic when driving. He's a cool dude in his mid 60's. Wish I had that kind of discipline.

I’ve had three Tacoma’s, 2009, 2019 and now I have a 2021.
Mile each:
2009- 209,000
2019- 55,000
2021- 88,000

Other than normal maintenance, no major repairs, have never left me.
I wanted the Apple Car Play, that’s why I traded in the 2019 for the 2021. I used my credit card to pay the difference. The owner of the dealership and I are good friends.
They are great trucks. My friend has a small toyota truck, 1992. Hard to go anywhere with it, folks always are asking to buy it.

Mine is a 2006, 4.0L, TRD with 230k miles. Only issue was a bent U joint and two broken lugs from taking it down to Dixon Ford and up the other side on FSR 1410. The little woman was terrified and utterly amazed. It runs even better now.
