Im all for the second amendment but im not for laws that don’t require owners to have a permit. I think that’s reckless. Too many stupid people out there who have zero regard for gun safety.

Can I introduce you to drivers that are 35+ and have a "Student Driver" marker on their cars? None of those idiots are doing street takeovers, though.

I'll be kind the first time, but no so much later.

Gun restrictions were created to prevent blacks from legally owning or carrying firearms. Does your granny have any less right to own and carry a firearm because she only hits 4/7 at 5 yards? Who gets to decide what is good enough?

You know the answer. If you can't shoot expert at 300 yards, you don't deserve to carry! That's the point.

Funny you haven't mentioned reckless in the context of people on their phones while driving at 70mph.

Man, I worked a place where 80% of the people in the field were black. It used to be a running joke because just about every vehicle in the parking lot where they parked had a gun. After hearing them talking to each other about having a gun in their car a supervisor went walk in the parking lot to look through the window. Some of them didn't even hide their gun. Giving them the benefit of the doubt we estimated that maybe 10% of of those dudes bought their gun legally. You think requiring owners to have a permit will make a difference?

Look at this dumb Fudd thinking a permit would have meant the gun would have been placed in a proper holster for carrying in a purse.

I used to have that good ole boy/conservative/ 2nd amendment mentality, but I'm actually coming around to the idea of this. Anyone who owns and/or operates a firearm should be trained by a competent professional. I was raised hunting, fishing, shooting, and archery. My father taught me how to handle firearms responsibly, but it wasn't until I joined the usmc when I really learned how to use a rifle/pistol properly. Funny enough it was all the good ole boys from the south (including myself), that struggled with training at first because we thought we already knew everything. Now when i'm around civilians (usually hunting scenarios) I always notice improper firearm etiquette. I don't like the idea of the gov't controlling anything, but I'd be willing to bet the majority of people (even legal gun owners) have no idea how to properly operate a firearm. Ok yall say its your right to own a firearm? Well then its also your duty to be competent and insure those around you are competent as well.
