Let's pretend 2 or so years ago... you invested your retirement savings and bought a house in a retirement community where you wanted to be around people your age and live an active lifestyle with people your age..... and then 2 years down the road, that same retirement community turned into a normal fricked up suburb and then started having the exact same problems that the suburb where you just moved from started having in the place where you retired to.
They have had a high school there a lot longer than 2 years. More like 2 decades at least. My grandparents lived there. I’ve been around the school multiple times over the years. Very nice.

I guarantee you that this will be like other retirement communities that allow this. The one my parents live in allows families but it’s a separate area with its own amenities and aren’t able to use the retiree rec center and other things unless they are with someone with access.

The villages is a shithole country.
Edit to the downvoters: While they all purport to support the Donald and allegedly embrace conservative values, the reality is the villages in populated with state, federal and big union pensioners from the rust belt. Wolves in sheep’s clothing if you ask me. Be mindful of Dick Gephardt populism masquerading as conservatism.

Two thoughts about this; last few generations ain’t raising their kids, so grands have that responsibility; and second, the mascot seems out of place, Buffalo’s? Where is this village at? In Montana?

Some people retire early and still have school aged kids.

There have been families, kids, schools in that area forever. This seems like nothing to get worked up over.

I think that’s for support staff, etc living in the area. My parents mentioned this when I was there last. (They love it)

They have always had younger people living there. There are rules for it, something like 80/20.

Imagine you’re a teenager and your parents announce you’re moving to retirement village.

They are building a "carousel" next so they have more to worry about....

Yea!! I am sure they are going to enjoy the increased crime, vandalism, trash, loud music, listening to basketball goals in the neighbor's driveway, kids out screaming all day during summer break. Yea, I am sure people worked their entire lives to want to put up with all that shite. If it's anything like the neighborhood I lived in Alpharetta (ATL suburb) it's miserable during the summer break with kids screaming every day in the neighborhood like you hear at the beach with kids screaming all day
You really come off like a miserable person.

I was really hoping they named something: Del Boca Vista Phase Three.
BTW. Thanks for shitty thread.

I wonder if any old folks in the Villages hire prostitutes to go bang other guys’ wives at the old people swinger parties like that TD thread showed us last night.

We live in a Retirement Community in SC with a 12 year old and absolutely love it. The parties, drinking, and drugs are like nothing I've ever seen before.
Btw, we are moving to The Villages in about 10 years and this thread is about worthless. Who do you think works at the Publix there? Folks who get bussed in?

No there’s not lol.
There is a neighborhood where execs live with their families though, but it’s cordoned off.
Kids can’t be there for more than two weeks at a time.
A lot of yall know nothing about the villages.
Posted on 3/3/24 at 7:52 am to LootieandtheBlowfish
There is actually. I've talked to people who live there. My percent might be off, but there are rules that allow younger families to live there.

From what I hear, the Villages economy is booming. There's such a shortage of nurses that LPN's are bringing in 7k a month there. Do you not want a nurse available, I don't get it? Do you hate Capitalism or are you just really uneducated about how economics works?

There’s a few neighborhoods off of 466 and in Lady Lake where people that work for or with the villages can live but they aren’t really in the villages.
There are tons of kids hanging around the squares but they don’t live there, they live in the surrounding areas because there’s nothing else to do.
Again you’re basing your facts off second hand information.
