No one is ignorant to the fact that they want to be recognized as UL. I understand from a branding stance why they would do that.
It’s just lame as hell because they are trying to take the shortcut by just beating over the head of everyone that they NEED to be called that because they filed a trademark, instead of doing what literally every other University of State school did and get the accreditation to be the flagship school of that state system.
It’s just Louisiana politics in a nut shell, always take the easiest short cut possible.

Watching the ULL softball game today, the announcer kept apologizing for saying ULL and not Louisiana. The school is a disgrace with all this bullshite. Just go by your name or Cajuns, you are just lucky to be on tv.

Why are you guys so insecure about another state school’s name? This is a direct quote from your chancellor in 1984.
LSU Chancellor Wharton says he fought the USL name change because it was threatening LSU’s dominion as the “flagship” university.
Giving it a new name alone would increase USL’s ability to compete for national attention in academics and funding and “we cannot take very much more competition,” Wharton said. “If it leads to further competition, I don’t think LSU can survive as the flagship university”.
Pretty pathetic for a “flagship”, this is Louisiana politics.

Because they aren’t “Louisiana “. There are two schools. UL Lafayette and UL Monroe. They are on equal footing but one has grabbed the Louisiana name.

We haven’t played very well so far this year. Hoping they get it together eventually but I don’t see them winning tonight. Loads of errors and bad at bats have been a problem.

Crowd tonite should be interesting, as the announcers last nite were saying it could be another record crowd with SLI in town ( sorry, old habit) along with LSU. Not a troll, but do you Cajuns travel that well or is this just based on alumni living in Houston?
