The Walker High School girls basketball team (35-0) lost 64-63 on a last second shot from beyond half court in OT in the LHSAA semifinal game. They were up by as many as 17 points.

Ouch. I'd rather lose by 30 than by last second halfcourt heave.

Also, did the shooter pick up her dribble and run like 3 steps before shooting?

Walker hasn't won a state title since 1977, and never in the highest classification. They've been a perennial contender for the last decade or so, yet never gotten over the final hump. This year's team had 4 seniors going on to play college basketball. Losing like that in a game they led wire-to-wire after an undefeated season confirms that they're just cursed. This loss will forever define their program.

My mom coached 8th grade girl’s basketball for a few years in late 80’s even though she didn’t know much about sport (she was new PE teacher and nobody else wanted to coach).

In her last (3rd) year coaching, her team was dominant winning every game by 20+. There weren’t any playoffs but the last game was on road against a decent but lesser team. That team came from behind and won on a half court shot at buzzer.

Judice over LJ Alleman in 1990 or so.

that has to be an awesome feeling to hit that shot. on the flip side, the girl that missed that free throw has to be sick.

I actually randomly saw the Parkway girls play earlier this year. I knew they looked good and I remember the girl who made it being one of the better players. Good for her, that was really cool.

WOW!

Feel bad for the team that lost. That's like getting your heart ripped out of your chest and seeing it as you drop dead.
