Duvall is my wife’s favorite player, so this is good for the family. She’s so happy right now.

So who we thinking makes the final roster at this point?
My guess:
Starters
Strider, Fried, Morton, Sale, Lopez
Relievers
Iglesias, Minter, Matzek, Johnson, Jimenez, Giles, Perdomo
Catchers
Murphy, d'Arnaud
Infielders
Albies, Olson, Riley, Arcia, Fletcher
Outfielders
Acuna, Harris, Kelenic, Duvall, Wall
DH
Ozuna
Seem right?

Perdomo is out with TJS and Giles has already been optioned to the minors. I imagine Dylan Lee and Jackson Stephens make it in place of those two, but everything else looks like a solid bet.

Guillorme probably goes over Fletcher since he's on a major league contract and Fletcher is already off the 40 man.
ETA: Bummer is a lock to be on the opening day roster unless he gets hurt between now and then.

Really like the Duvall signing myself. Outfield depth was looking a little sketchy, especially with Kelenic being a relative unknown, and I am decently high on Kelenic. 1y/$3m is ashtray money for MLB teams these days, figured he would get more from somebody.
The Padres really could have used him. They have the corpse of Jurickson Profar (-2 WAR last year) penciled in as their starting LF.

Per Bowman...braves have told Kelenic he will platoon with Duvall
Not exactly a ringing endorsement of Kelenic
He was actually better vs lefties last year, but in a small sample

Duvall should have a lifetime contract.

AA says otherwise:

AA said Kelenic's spring has "zero, no impact" on signing Duvall. “This is about Duvall. We had an opportunity to get Duvall back, we were going to do that. Jarred has looked great. He’s looked great defensively ... We’re very excited about Jarred and how he’s doing, thrilled.”

Did you think AA would just come out and say “Well, Kelnic is not what I hoped he was, basically is sucking right now and I want to cover our asses with a proven vet”?
No. We will get GM speak regardless of whatever he really thinks.

We were always going to get a RH bat for LF. This move had nothing to do with Kelenic.

Yeah, but I do think there was some (bad) thought here and on social media that he would be playing almost every day when the stats should have told us that wasn't optimal and/or likely.
My "not exactly a ringing endorsement" comment was more about the timing than anything. Its going to be hard to convince the masses that it wasn't at least in part due to Kelenic's struggles, and just from the perspective of Kelenic's mentality I think it would have been better to sign Duvall a couple of weeks ago and go into the season with this plan instead of it even sort of looking reactionary. We don't want to give a guy who is probably mentally struggling anyway any unnecessary doubt IMO.
That said, in the back of AA's mind I do think the Duvall signing is a tincy wincy bit of a "If this Kelenic dude totally shits the bed we can just play Adam every day" signing, but like I said its not because of his ST performance.

Rereading AA’s quote makes me question that.
Duvall has been on the market for a long time. They have had plenty of time to pick him up before now. The opportunity has been there since the end of last season. The timing is suspect at a minimum.

Snitker also said there was no plan to platoon LF, but then Duvall fell in their lap. Duvall may have reached out to AA and been like yo ill come back for cheap if you want.

He more than likely was holding out for a longer deal

Fair point.
For whatever reason he is on the roster, I am glad he is back.

Oops Bummer was an oversight. Didn’t see the Giles and Perdomo news

Braves are underdogs today against the Rays on HardRock Bet, threw some funny money at it
