LSU Arena, and thereby restricting certain uses by City-Parish owned buildings, including the Raising Cane’s River Center,
WTF does Raising Canes River Center have to do with anything? I hope this has nothing to do with basketball.

Where does Mike go? No way they can keep him there while the stadium is demolished / built.
I am no big fan of PETA, but it would be cruel to keep him there for 2 plus years of demo and build. I would think they would relocate him to a zoo for the duration.

Its assumed LSU would host some of their athletic events there while the new arena is being built

downtown? Thats gonna be a no from me, dawg
NO for me too. Mulkey has been very vocal about this very topic. THIS will 100% push her into an early retirement if they expect us to play in an off-campus site.
Baylor said frick it and look at where Kim coaches now. IF Woody goes downtown, Kim will retire. We can not frick this up or even consider it or we will lose the head coach.

Moody is my favorite CBB arena

A mixed use hotel/entertainment district connecting both Tiger Stadium and the new arena along Nicholson could be awesome if done correctly
I’d be all for that. It would potentially allow for LSU to profit off of teams coming in town to play for non football games.

They will likely frick it up as usual.
This is the problem. No AD has ever looked at the future and viability of facilities. They’ve only been able to focus on what’s right in front of them. I remember when FKA scrapped the stand alone nutrition center on site of old Box because he thought donations needed to go elsewhere and that the state wouldn’t fund it.

It is in relation to allowing use of the facility as a temp home for LSU basketball and/or the future use in regards to other events such as concerts, conventions, etc. From what I understand, the city previously placed some really stupid limitations on the type of events held at the River Center.
That said, that agenda is horribly worded, even by legal standards.

Watch what actually happens very carefully. There are people who want BTR to be a bigger convention and destination performance town. That means building a facility much bigger than the River Center. Same people do not want LSU to build a new sports area that might compete for major performances.
The outcome of the agenda item may not make all LSU fans happy.

How about tear down the cow palace and build a new arena on that site. I guess isn’t being considered?

Ole Miss' arena is better than Auburn's arena. I have been inside both on tours.
LSU has more season ticket holders (WBB, Gymnastics, etc) than a 9-10K arena would seat. Build it at least to 12K.
That ordinance proposal suggest LSU could not use the PMAC while the building program is ON. That could mean a MAJOR PMAC renovation OR a tear-down and rebuild on same site.

frick downtown. The cow palace says HELLO

New arena built on the current track and field facility, New track and field facility built around the soccer stadium or the box.

Teardown and rebuild on the same site. Hard to beat the location sandwiched up to the greatest venue in CFB.

SOMEBODY might want to consult with the head coach. I can’t see anything good coming from this shite.
1. Tell EBR to have a nice day and keep the LSU name off the proposal AND off the building.
2. STAY in the PMAC
3. Tear down the Cow Palace and build a new arena there.
THIS is textbook of what happened at Baylor. fricking to the “T”, exactly what happened.

There are a lot of valid reasons for not building it downtown. But what Kim Mulkey thinks has zero impact. She might be retired in a few years.

I don't think the finances even work without something like this. In this day and age, you cant fund a new arena and have it sit empty 8 months a year. You need the concert, convention, and hotel revenue to make it work.
I think they should do something similar beyond left field in Alex Box as well. A mixed use Condo/Hotel similar to Starkville would be awesome. Walk-ons (or someone similar) would write a blank check to be a ground level tenant at that location. Hell tie the whole thing together with the new North Stadium Drive development, and with a constant string of events from September thru May, it would not only pay for itself but be a cash cow for generations.
