Almost 24 hours in and its not as bad as i thought it would be. Never done this before, what should I be aware of going into the next 2 days?

I'm new at this too. I've done a 21 hour fast three times in the last week. Agreed, not as bad as I thought, but not going for a 3-day fast anytime soon. I've got no experience doing that.

I do them all the time. Try to go beyond 3 days as that’s when a lot of the good stuff starts to happen. Good luck!

Day 2 sucks as the hunger is intense and your body is transitioning into ketosis.

Day 3 is usually when you get over the hump and start to feel awesome.

Take some salt with your water. Ideally replenish all electrolytes.

Plan your first meal back now and be smart about it. Eat lightly your first day back.

Get plenty of sodium, Potassium, snd magnesium. I got some fasting salts from Amazon that I use for anything over 24 hr. They taste like the devils dick but make you feel better.

I've done fasts several times, about 3rd day it gets easier to keep going and it's pretty intersting what your body continues to excrete even though there's no food going in.

IMO, the key is to phase in and phase out don't just STOP eating and then resume all at once. For me, I start a day or two before by switching to eating nothing but raw fruits/veggies, then reduce the amounts, and THEN the actual fast begins. Likewise, I learned the hard way after a lenghty fast that it's a bad idea to just jump right into what you usually eat. So after that, I phase OUT of the fast the say way I phase IN.

3 day water only fasts are incredible for you. I do a 21 day water fast twice a year. Starting over, avoid sugar and processed crap that fda approves. It’s the enemy and will kill you. If you don’t shoot it or grow it, be careful if you eat it. Good job.

I've done a 36 hour fast. In my experience, the worst is yet to come.

I'll never do a fast again. I prefer to stay fueled.

Now, I did see a guy who did a raw milk fast. That seemed interesting to me. Raw milk is great for your gut. I assume you wouldn't feel as bad since you are getting some protein and glucose from the milk.

I’ve done a couple of 3day fasts in the last 3 months. It’s really interesting how your body reacts. I could feel stomach grumbling but not really due to hunger…it really reset my desire for crappy food and cut my down on how much I can intake for the first little while back into eating. I think it’s a great thing to do almost like a tune up for your vehicle. Definitely be careful what you eat coming off the fast. I went right back into normal food on my first one and it wasn’t the best. I took it easier on the 2nd one I just finished and it was a better transition. I was drinking one 24oz container of water with LMNT each day as I was also continuing my workout routine. I plan to do it every quarter and after the next one I’m going to push it up to 5 days. Kind of looking forward to it. As another poster stated it’s really a great test of discipline.

I could only get through 48hours. Sitting on the sofa watching the Bama/TN game broke me and I had some cabbage salad and a few crackers.

I’ll try again when I get back from vacation next week.
