Why? You aren't saving the person behind you any real time and are increasing the risk of an accident.

Just turn like normal

I don’t do that, but I don’t mind when people in front of me do it. I’d rather them do that than come to an almost complete stop on a 55 mph road to turn right, leaving me vulnerable to getting rear-ended.

Being courteous while driving is what leads to car accidents when others around you are expecting you to drive according to the rules of the road.

If it turning off of a road that has a 55mph speed limit and there’s no turn lane, you better believe I’m hitting the shoulder to slow down.

frick getting rear ended by some a-hole glancing at their phone behind me.

And frick you.

Yes, I will hug the shoulder if you do this behind me,
No, I will not let you cut ahead of others.
Yes, I will let your car hit me.
Yes, I do have paper plates.

My favorite are the people turning right who swing into the left lane to make a right turn...

I veer over if I can to not come to a complete or rolling stop to turn if space allows safely. I hate drivers who literally come to a stop to turn right. And take all day to do it.

I’ll drive how I want to drive, give me a ticket if you don’t like it and I’ll be on my way.

The only people worse than idiots that slow down in the road before a turn and left lane cruisers are the idiots that turn into a parking lot and stop so they can figure out which way they want to go.

Correct, and you have to go MUCH slower to make that tighter turn…or they end up in the other lane once they’ve turned.

You're not slowing down traffic behind you and no you're not increasing the risk of an accident. I personally hate the people that don't do this.

I do this all the time while driving to keep from getting rear-ended and I also stay the hell out of the left-lane when driving on the freeway even when no one else is around.

It’s typically only something i do on 55 mph two lane country roads. It’s significantly safer than hoping the driver of the car behind you is paying attention.

How is it increasing the risk of an accident?

Not to mention, it's illegal. If you get in a wreck you are at fault.

I can see a lot of people here do not know how to think on their own and assess situations in front of them. Will I use the turn lane? Sometimes yes and sometimes no, it depends on the shoulder, driving conditions, and traffic.
