Agree with a lot of that. Multiple rounds of neutral site games is stupid.

Big time games with college stadium atmospheres that are rocking are way more fun to watch on TV than neutral site games in NFL stadiums anyway

You guys are hilarious with your whining because you fans of the big teams will now have more hurdles thrown at you. Most of your big boy teams played 3 meaningful games this past year.
I can understand your angst that now you have to win more games on the field and can’t just ride the pre-season ranking to a 4 team invite. Bama won 1 meaningful game this past season and got invited, You Bama fans already know this. Michigan won 3 meaningful games and were crowned the mythical champ. Now, they’ll have to play more and are scared to death. The lower tier teams love this. What would Michigan look like if they had to play 2 more rounds and McCarthy got hurt? What will UGA do next year if Beck goes down in round 1 or in the GT game with the playoffs looming?
An expanded playoff and the portal stripping depth is by far the two best thing that could have happened to a sport that has become stale with the same 10 teams the past 30 years. Upsets are going to happen no matter how many times you say they won’t. Most posters here were posting how Bama was just gonna waltz to the Natty and you gave Michigan no respect. We see how that turned out.

Brother, I think you have it backwards. Michigan found a nice draw this year, but I don't think they could have beaten UGA and Texas or Oregon, too. Wisconsin or Ole Miss may get in the tournament now, so that's good. But, they are not going to win 3 or 4 games. What I'm saying is you're going to basically end up with UGA, Bama, or OSU as champs most years.
I also don't think the physical toll aspect is a good thing like you do. These teams are going to be beat to hell by mid January. Hopefully, they are not losing QBs in the semis.

If I am the ACC and Big 12, I eliminate my Championship Games if they are only going to allow 2 in...why have your top 2 take another loss and possibly lose out in the seeding...
And same for G5 also...why risk a possible home game because there was an upset in the game.
Lastly, does this officially push ND into a conference...if it is true..there is 1 one at large..
4 SEC
4 Big 10
2 ACC
2 Big 12
1 G5
1 At Large?

I don’t think any other big program had 4 wins before bowls/playoffs against teams that finished in the top 20. And I say that as a Bama hater who thought the committee royally screwed FSU.

quote:Expanded playoff was fine, but they expanded it to too big of a field. 9-3 teams should not be making the playoff every year but that’ll happen with 12+ teams. Sure you’ll have a few upsets from time to time, but nobody outside of the top 5-6 will have a realistic chance to win 4 games in a row against that level of competition.

Folks, we're in the passing lane to the Superconferences taking over college football. The rest is a band-aid on a severed arm.

This would make the conference championship games even more meaningless than they’re going to be with the 12 team format. We are going to see a lot of NFL Week 18-style duds in the future college football.

The only change that needs to be made is that all games should be on college campuses, except for the Final Four. I'd prefer just the title game being at neutral site, but they have to appease the traditional NY6 bowls.
It's silly how the top teams with a Bye won't get to host a home playoff game.

that's at least 2 and often 3 more than the non "Big Boys" play.
and the big boys do this weird thing where they score more points than they allowed. Thats called "winning".

The rich are only getting richer with the current state of the portal. Go talk to coaches at places like ULL and ask them how fun it is to manage their roster when their best players leave for bigger schools after every season

This is so dumb. No team outside the top 10 is winning a title anyway. I would say 12 is too many and it should have been 8

I hate to break it to you, but this is far worse for lower tier teams than it is for upper tier teams.
No lower tier team is going to beat 4 top 10 P5 schools consecutively. The best teams are still going to win.

I wouldn't be so sure to include Alabama in that grouping (long term), but yeah Georgia and Ohio State are going to locks to make it in the playoff and will consistently have the most talent. IMO, Alabama would be in the next tier (teams that will make it most years) with Texas, Oregon, LSU, Clemson, Florida State, and Notre Dame.

No way does the weak arse Big 12 get 2 teams in.
I would bet most years it's going to be:
3 or 4 SEC
3 or 4 B1G
2 ACC
1 Big 12
1 G5
1 Notre Dame possibly over the 4th SEC or B1G school
