Are they worth it on a new Tundra truck?

They're never worth it.

I don’t know if it’s worth it or not that’s kind of a gamble but I got one online for $900 when the dealership wanted $2300. So maybe look around. It was from another dealer that makes their money selling online warranties I guess.

Can be worth it They also negotiate the price. Consider what you would pay if the infotainment screen goes out and get 100,000 mile warranty paying that one item.
Then it can be worth it.
Then it can be worth it.

What does it cover? Power strain and suspension? Probably not
All the electronics (sensors, wiring, mother boards, touch screens)? Depends on the expense.

Don't Tundras have really good reliability ratings? I wouldn't bother. But like another poster said, people will attach a different price value to peace of mind.

My 2023 Tundra came with a lifetime powertrain warranty. So I passed on any extended warranty plus Toyota is so reliable why piss the money away.

They are absolutely worth it.
To the people who sell extended warranties. Because there’s a sucker looking for “peace of mind” born every minute.

Like any insurance, they’re “worth it” if you have to use them, but not if you don’t. Not being a smartass, it’s just a gamble. With the over engineered vehicles of today, it doesn’t take much to make it worthwhile.

Yep. My 2022 Duramax has 55k miles and it’s already needing door locks, transmission valve, and coolant thermostat
All covered under my extended warranty
Not to mention they pay for my rental car
Btw my Extended warranty is for 100k miles or 8 years

Most people lose money on these warranties. If you get one, make sure to get the best warranty they offer. Look at the list of "covered parts", because they absolutely will not cover anything that isn't on that list. Most don't cover seals and gaskets, which can be costly to replace, so make sure they're covered. Do not forget to mention the warranty every time you bring it to the shop, because they will not cover a repair that is performed before they're notified. Lastly, be aware that none of the extended warranties require services to be performed at a dealership; any reputable independent shop with ASE certified technicians will be able to file a claim on the warranty.

You would need one for a Chevy, Dodge and Ford. But don't waste your money if you're driving a Toyota Tundra. You'll put 250k on it before it gets broke in.

Money maker for the dealership.
That one thing you need it for won’t be covered.

Don’t think you need it for a Tundra

On a Toyota and probably not. Just had a colleague have a Ford power stroke fuel pump failure would have cost him times the cost of his warranty and labor can kill you on just about any repairs
Posted on 2/20/24 at 8:10 pm to tigger4ever
Nah, especially not for a Toyota
Posted on 2/20/24 at 8:15 pm to tigger4ever
If people knew how little these pay out they would never even consider them.
Posted on 2/20/24 at 8:33 pm to tigger4ever
They wouldn’t sell them to you if they were losing money.

If it was worth it, they wouldn't be selling them.
