No Lowes, Home Depot, Bud, Miller, Office Depot, Target type sponsors.
To be fair I don’t know how Office Depot is still a viable business so they probably don’t have any money to pour into a race car sponsorship.

They still have big sponsors but it seems like less and less guys have that title sponsor for the whole season. Hamlin is pretty steady, Logano, maybe a few others. You used to be able to pick out your favorite drivers immediately because the paint scheme didn’t change and those cars became iconic. That’s kinda lacking now
To add onto this racing is stupid expensive. One of the ways teams have generated more as revenue is by doing partial car sponsorships for specific races so a sponsor isn’t on the hook for a full seasons worth of sponsorship. This allows more sponsors to be involved with the sport without being locked out from the cost of sponsoring a car for a full season. Teams can also charge higher sponsorship fees for the key races like Daytona, Talladega or Bristol.

They went away when all the big name drivers left, retired, got killed.
I watched Daytona yesterday and barely knew any of the drivers
And it was boring

NASCAR’s Duel at Daytona delivered the largest sports audience of the day of Thursday, February 15.
The NASCAR Duel at Daytona averaged 1.64 million viewers on FS1 Thursday night, an increase of 7% over last year (1.54M) and the largest audience for the event since 2019 (1.73M). The telecast delivered the top sports audience of the day. A Truck Series practice led-in with 228,000.
Placing second, a Bucks-Grizzlies NBA regular season game averaged a combined 1.14 million across TNT (1.04M) and truTV (95K) — up 6% from Bucks-Bulls on TNT alone last year (1.07M).

Same for me. But that's what happens when you go 20 years in between watches. I didn't turn it on and expect to see Jeff Gordan Tony Stewart out there. Why would you have expected it to be a field of guys you recognized?

There are Brad Kezlowski, Joey Logano, and Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace who are known names.

You mean to tell me a sport w/35-40 events each year has higher ratings than one that has around 2,500 w/its regular season and playoffs?
or 1 game a week, on sundays, for only 18 weeks, right?
Not sure what point you are trying to make, but the NFL has 14-16 games spread out over 3 days each week.

Typically there were always generational drivers, we still have a Burton and an Elliot.
