I’ve written a macro for that

He dove early otherwise could have just ran it down.

He dove a tad early, but still a great play

Only because you asked nicely.

That’s called a SlowFlowPro.

He did dive early but I think he would have had to dive anyway, just one step later. The catch might have been a little easier, or maybe not. Maybe going off the wrong foot would have made it more difficult to get the glove there. Anyway, great play!

I imagine he saw another player running into his vision. But you would have to ask the guys actually in the field to be sure

He’s on the ground for an eternity in game speed time. Not only that, but the dive was goofy & he tried to brace himself, costly more time.
At the speed he was running, this would have been 3-4 steps & a nice running play. The best part of this play was the jump & amount of ground he covered. It was a tremendous play in that regard.
Most dives that occur in the OF rarely have to occur, as they cost the fielder time to close on the ball. The most justifiable dive is to get on plane with the ball, not to reach the ball. You optimally reach balls by staying on your feet.

That is some amazing analysis. Perhaps you are correct.

I'll have to trust your expert opinion on this one.

One bad arse centerfielder making a great catch!

The fact you have to make this post means you were being negative about his catch. Youre just a miserable person trying to make others miserable. Something is seriously wrong with you.

Playing in the high school band does make you an expert in baseball.

That’s not a melt. Lol. I just don’t want others to fall for your misery. It’s a rabbit hole few come out of. You’re very good at being a miserable loser tbh.

Man, shut your “people hate me because I’m honest” dumbass up. It was absolutely necessary for him to dive and was a spectacular play. It’s ok to enjoy things every now and then.

Stop, Lester. It was a great catch. He covered a ton of ground and left his feet when he felt like he needed to. Most importantly, he caught it.
