Will make a couple trips with a buddy of mine that keeps beagles. We average about 14 shells per rabbit killed but always have a good time.

Not like in the past. But some. Some friends are hitting it hard.
I’ve got to much going on. Stepping back a little for now

I try to run my rabbit dogs every weekend I'm not deer hunting. If I am by myself, I just let them run and don't worry about killing the rabbits. Love a good chase but they been slipping lately, may have to upgrade.

I went stomp some briars yesterday (as well as doing some post season scouting) and flushed four to my surprise (I think one was the same one, so 3).

I had three shot attempts and they each made me look real stupid and came home empty.

Went last weekend with a bunch of guys on my cousin’s properties in MS where I deer hunt. Even had some guys in with their beagles from Kentucky and Ohio. It was a blast, these old boys don’t miss often, just not a ton of rabbits bc the property has too much overstory and not enough thick shite to be ideal.

A couple of observations. Those swamp rabbits are a tough out. Ran those dogs’ little legs off. Not like those cottontails in meadows.

And if you feed the crew a big pot of venison chili at the end of the hunt, you are in like Flynn. I got invites to come back, jug fishing on the Reservoir, noodling, moonshine making… I’d call it a good weekend.
