He was mentally ill

Good question and I bet we can thank someone Fast And Furious for that one.

Which way did this transgender go? Was it male to female or vice versa? I can't tell.

It’s a chick that pretended to be a man.
Current pronouns are was/were.

"If you see something, say something."
What a joke!
I'm not in the least surprised by police inaction in the face of a clear threat presented by a politically-protected class member!
It's like expecting Joe Biden to be prosecuted for stealing Top Secret documents from the SCIF! NOT GONNA HAPPEN, POINDEXTER!

You don’t read the other posts on this board where that exact image has been shown, either.

If I was her neighbor I would have handled these matters a bit differently, especially if she was pointing guns at my family.

And they’ll still make it about the AR-15.
They won't make it about anything. Trans and Central American, and the gun had "Palestine" written on it. It will quickly fade from the newsfeed. It's not even being listed on the mass shooting database because they say no one was killed. Most of the press stated that police shot her, but failed to mention they were odd-duty and attending services there.

But someone with her background and documented criminal and mental history, including having served jail time, never should have been allowed to legally purchase a firearm.
The only effective way to deal with crazies like this is to involuntarily commit them. Just saying they can buy or own a firearm doesnt mean squat. They can get them from other places (private party).
If they cant get a gun they can get in a car and run over people. They can use a machete.
Its the person that is the threat and the only way to deal with them is to put them in a home.
Well that or SSS.

Hence why 5150 is a thing in California and there are similar versions in other states.
Someone deemed a danger to themselves and the public gets an involuntary stay to be evaluated and may end up remanded for quite a while as a result if things don’t go well.

Agree, but something needs to be patched/fixed if someone with this documented history can walk into your local gun store and legally purchase a firearm. Just because they can get it from somewhere illegally doesn’t mean they should also be allowed a legal path as well.

Sounds like she was legit mentally disturbed. Her former spouse doesnt seem much better as hes a sex criminal.
That poor child.
That poor child.

Yeah…I read yesterday that he also got in trouble for failing to register as a sex offender when he moved or something. The whole thing is strange and fricked up, with that poor child caught up in the middle and used as a shield by his mother.

yes, if there is something in the laws that would allow a person with her background to pass a background check to legally buy and possess a firearm, then that missing link needs to be identified and fixed.
While I’d like to agree with you, what would that look like? Anxiety? Depression? PTSD? To what degree?

My understanding is she also had a criminal record and jail time to go with it. So I’d think the combination of a documented criminal and mental history like hers together should trigger a no purchase, especially when it was as recent as it was to her purchasing the gun. It’s not like 25 years or something had passed.

I agree completely. So the question once again falls on the legal system for doing nothing.
