My at least 15 year old lab mix died yesterday. She was the best dog and best friend a person could have. She went with me everywhere up until a few years ago. She was there before I had a family. We spent many a day on the boat and in deer stands. We had many great adventures together. It was time for her to go. To say it sucks is an understatement.

Same here. The first dog I got and raised myself too. Dreading that day.

Having put my 14 year old pup down in October I can tell you, it’s very emotional and difficult and to just let your emotions happen. Things get better, but you’ll always miss your companion.

We don’t deserve them.

Man sorry to hear that but I feel your pain. Everything reminds me of her. I know this sounds silly but I feel completely lost right now, my world has been turned upside down.

Just remember it's ok to show emotions. Hang out with some friends, talk about it with them, share some stories, and take it day by day.

Have lost three pups. It isn't easy to let go, but the good times far outweigh the emotional trauma.

Remember, your dog only wanted one thing in its short life: to make you happy. He would want you to get another dog so you can be happy again. You'll know when you're ready.

Take comfort in knowing that you gave her a great life.

Mate, I feel your pain. My beloved Sir Winston crossed the Rainbow Bridge over 2 years ago and I've still not replaced the lad.

Put down one of our shih tzus (Mylah) two weeks ago, She was a good friend.
She just started limping around one day and we figured it was just because she was old. A trip to the vet turned into news of bone cancer.. she went downhill pretty quick and we decided it was bet to put her down.. it was tough but for the best…

Sorry for your loss man. Its the worst pain i've felt when i lost my 9 year old chocolate lab last August. It still hurts to this day. My wife is scheduled to have our first baby in 8 days, which is why we havent got another yet. But man i wish my Bailey girl couldve been around to meet our baby. She was the best and i miss her a ton.

Its the little things that you miss the most. I feel like i still hear her toenails on the hardwood at night.

I am very sorry for loss. This has to be one of the hardest things to do. I was prepared to put our dog down years ago, but she died before we were to take her in to the vet. I was sitting outside at our current vet and I saw this girl come out with a box. She then set in her car for about 20 minutes crying. I assume she had her dog's ashes in the box.

I’ll bet that little rascal had a helluva run.

Remember the good times and take care of yourself.

I’m very happy both of my sons were able to know Paquita. I had her for pretty much my whole adult life. She was by my side through it all. The good and bad times. She was steady. She will be remembered always. So many memories. So many emotions.
