What reset happened in 1902?

Many people have said that society will begin to crumble in a matter of 4-5 days in the absence of basic services. I saw it happen on a small scale in less than 3 in SE New Mexico about 8 years ago. Area was hit with an all time record snow event...24 inches in places and stayed on the ground about 8 days and in ditches and gullies from late December until July. There are 2 state highways into and out of this town of about 20,000 full time residents. At the time there were probably an additional 25,000 temporary residents in the immediate area working in the oil patch. There is a sizeable rail yard in the town but they do not deliver staple items they merely switch sections of trains to send them somewhere else. The first day of the snow fall folks were fine...in fact happy as clams to be out of school and work. By mid day of the second day the three grocery stores in town shelves were nearly bare. By the time they closed the police had to be present to direct traffic and keep people from fist fighting over what was left. When they re-opened the next day, with almost nothing on the shelves, I would say at least 5000 people were in the parking lot of those 3 stores. The police were allowing them in in small groups but eventually they had allowed enough in that trouble started happening inside...trouble consisting of people pushing and shoving and actually throwing punches. The police left the outside of the store to deal with the shite going on inside and of course the remaining people outside rushed in and added to the mayhem. When the police finally managed to get the crowd out of the store and back into the parking lot the inside of the stores looked like you'd expect. The store managers closed for the day until they received shipments. The next day the same thing happened and some windows were busted and fights broke out. They finally got some trucks in on the evening of the fourth day and they were steadily arriving by the fifth day. It took about 72 hours for a small town to resort to violence over their inability to buy some staple items at the grocery store. I had left town the minute it started snowing to hunt ducks and wound up stranded with me, my dog and my duck hunting stuff for 4 days so I did not witness this but I saw the papers and the news reports and of course the hyperbolic gossip that spread through town, about 10% of which was probably true. It does not take long in modern society for order to break down for certain.

Some sense of relativity and looking at things from a moderate perspective will indicate that we aren't close to overall societal collapse and certainly not closer than we have ever been. About every 30 -50 years this nation has faced an existential threat including year 0. We have managed to navigate all of them. The minor issues we face today, relative to the civil war of the great depression, are mere bumps in the road.

If you ask anyone what is the easiest way to control people, they will say "fear".
And then those same people will say "if you are not afraid, you are not paying attention!"
And its like they can't see it right in front of their face.

Read Reuters and watch local news. Zero opinion heads I listen to.

ok does posting daily on a message board change any of those things?
so in your view the world is goona change dramatically over the next 20 years....i can only vote...nothing else is changing that, so my choices are
1) Worry, be stressed and overall miserable for the next 20 years because i allowed politics to control my life
or
2) i can be happy, ignore all of that shite except at election time so that i can be happy and enjoy life/family/friends for the next 20 years with the exception of about a week to 10 days every other year when its time to go to the polls
ummmmmm.....which one sounds like the better plan...be the overly political douche bag that everyone hates that treats politics as a religion and is cult-like in his behavior
or I can go enjoy life
what a fricking hard choice!!!
Funny, you're on a political message board too. When I said the world is going to dramatically change over the next 20 years, I meant that AI and automation is going to remove millions of jobs, migration will change the landscape of current societies, and far more fewer people will be looking for work.
Not everything people say have to do with who's in the White House. Things change no matter what.. sometimes with help from politics, sometimes not.

Why pay attention at all? Sounds like you don't need to put yourself through such turmoil. You know who you'll be voting for anyway, so why are you here? You seem to despise politics but expose yourself willingly to it.
I didn't read much of your post. You can leave now. Otherwise, I may think you like it here.

In the last 20, the internet. That completely changed the world. Brought us great things, but also changed how the world communicates with group think and radicalization of ideas.
I think the next 20 is going to be bigger. I'm not trying to come all doomsday or anything. I just think the next changes will be bigger and more altering.

Close. It's inevitiable now that they've made the police the bad guys.

A researcher named Charles Fort wrote about it. There are several videos on the Archaix YouTube channel discussing 1902 and what went down.

Where do you tend to align politically?

This is a perfect example of too much media intake.
By nearly every measure, the US has gone gangbusters since the pandemic. China is currently in the shitter with no easy way out. Europe is still battling inflationary pressures. The DOW and S&P have hit record highs, inflation is back near where it's supposed to be, GDP is showing strong growth, employment has been incredibly strong, the dollar remains the dominant global currency. Is it all unicorns and cotton candy? No, but we sure as frick aren't on some edge of economic disaster, especially when compared to the rest of the world.
Oh, and this isn't a political thing. Congress hasn't done a fricking thing for the last few years. Our economic wins are a result of the non-partisan Fed handling things correctly, consumers consuming, and businesses growing.
Everything here is spot on but the economic woes in other parts of the world will, if continued, cause problems in the US. China, in particular, is a bigger problem today for the world than it has been in recent history.

The collapse has already occurred, we are in our civilizational death throes stage. The Left has REPLACED all of our best traditions, principles, ideals and Institutions. As a thought experiment, name TWO Institutions that have not moved to The Left in your lifetime. I will wait. As others have pointed out, we are basically a Ruling Class offshore account at this point, a pass-through corporation for people willing to kneel, an LLC, a loose business arrangement in which 97% of us are excluded. I mean, at this point, WHAT ARE WE?
