I’m too new to have any melts yet…

I would have saved Skenes for OSU, and I would have been wrong in hindsight.
I don’t often disagree with Jay, but I was pissed when he pulled Dugas in a tie game late for Nippolt to bunt. Only to get down 0-2 and eventually get out without advancing the runner to 2nd.

But if we never posted our frustrations on this site then Chicken would have to get a real job.

God forbid he gets a job at Tyson like a real American.

I worry about some of his subs, too.

Jay Johnson can’t predict the weather, he proved that the following weekend when we waited 8 hours for a thunderstorm that never showed up to pass through.
2 things here,
A. other than Nash, no human can predict the weather.
B. he used the info available to him to make his decision.
his info said the next day’s game would likely be delayed and you’d likely only get a couple innings from him tops.
that info proved to be correct.
so his decision based off that info also proved to be correct.
the next weekend, sorry but that want Jay’s call.
he can voice his opinion, but he doesn’t make that decision.
even IF he had the authority to make that call, again it was made based off the info he was given.
that info turned out not to be correct.
the decision based off that info turned out to be wrong.
newsflash, coaches aren’t perfect

Baseball, like most sports have zero 100% outcomes.
There are numerous ways to manage a game. Some have proven more successful but there are outlier outcomes all the time

There were 9.2 million reasons why Skenes had no business taking the mound with a 14 run lead
Absolutely. I am answering the OPs question - favorite over reaction to JJs decision last year.

Jay never said anything about this in post game press conferences.

I dont remember there being much of a melt about not pitching skenes once we got a little lead in game 3
I actually thought espn went over the top with their “skenes cam” in the locker room and constantly showing him when the pitching story was thatcher absolutely shoving on the mound

I'll take 100% of CJJ's decisions & live with them. Who has the biggest chance of being wrong, a TD ranter or the National Coach of the Year? And my memory of CJJ's comments re Tulane are different.

To the rest of America (who am I kidding, the rest of the southeastern region of the country who were the only people watching) Paul Skenes was the face of the CWS. ESPN was going to ride the hype to keep eyes on the game.

Not letting Skenes take a “victory lap” and pitch one out in the Monday game in Omaha. Not starting him was the right call, but him hurling one last out would have been a nice touch.
Nope. If anything he should’ve gotten an at bat in the 8th or something.

Were Ty Floyd and Blake Money the only Mainieri recruits to throw a pitch in last year’s CWS?

Probably, that the side of the ball Paul slacked on near the end, it wasnt the hitters
