Absolutely true. This past year, due to drought I didn’t have to mow my lawn from June to November

Droughts in the southeast are laughable compared to Texas droughts.

I’m talking a normal year. Just look at the dense forests that the southeast has compared to the mostly flat farm/ranch land that Texas has. Just can’t compare. Coastal Mississippi is even a different world vs coastal Texas.

I like Midland. I've got family that moved there after they sold the family ranch near El Paso. Well, they're in Midland and Marfa now.

Anyways, I suspect you'll like living in Midland. All depends upon your likes and hobbies and wife and family and where, in Midland, you choose to reside.

They've got one helluva long range shooting club there.

I ran across this and assume it’s not your company, but any merger can lead to some job losses. But can also lead to growth and more jobs too, once they most likely eliminate some duplication initially. Might be some temporary turmoil but my understanding is both companies were already across the road from each other. The key is, does your new job/company interact (business wise) with either company?:

Diamondback Energy, Inc. and Endeavor Energy Resources, L.P. to Merge to Create a Premier Permian Independent Oil and Gas Company

quote:

MIDLAND, Texas, Feb. 12, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diamondback Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: FANG) ("Diamondback" or the "Company") and Endeavor Energy Resources, L.P. ("Endeavor"), today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Diamondback and Endeavor will merge in a transaction valued at approximately $26 billion, inclusive of Endeavor's net debt. The combination will create a premier Permian independent operator. The transaction consideration will consist of approximately 117.3 million shares of Diamondback common stock and $8 billion of cash, subject to customary adjustments. The cash portion of the consideration is expected to be funded through a combination of cash on hand, borrowings under the Company's credit facility and/or proceeds from term loans and senior notes offerings. As result of the transaction, the Company's existing stockholders are expected to own approximately 60.5% of the combined company and Endeavor's equity holders are expected to own approximately 39.5% of the combined company.

quote:

Mr. Stice continued, "Over the past forty-five years, Mr. Stephens and his team at Endeavor have built the highest quality private oil company in the United States. Our companies share a similar culture and operating philosophy and are headquartered across the street from one another, which should allow for a seamless integration of our two teams. As a result, we look forward to continuing to deliver best-in-class results with a combined employee base headquartered in Midland, assuring Midland's relevance in the global oil market for the next generation."

Pro Forma Governance Highlights

The combined company will continue to be headquartered in Midland, Texas.

Midland is 10 times better than Cenla. That place is booming out there. New houses going up left and right, hotels going up, roads are being paved, they are building new lanes and overpasses. That place is thriving big time. If you can live in Cenla you definetely can live in Midland its an upgrade i dont care what anyone says.

Plus it dont rain alot out there so its dry af and no hurricanes

Just move there and figure shite out.

Geez, enough already.

You’re not going to Mars to start a colony.

You can move back if you need to.

This thread gives me lrabor3 pains.

like what?

we moved to Odessa last February.
we have some work related contacts, but haven't really made any new friends to hang out with after hours or weekends.

i think this apartment we just moved into last week will be our final and "permanent"spot for at while, so maybe we'll get to know some neighbors in the complex.

It took me awhile to get use to that area but i like it now. A single man can work 7 days a week out there and make really good money for 3-5 years. Jobs are everywhere

well my days of pulling long hours for weeks straight without a day off are behind me now.

traffic is a bitch at times, but for the most art it isn't terrible.
and i surprisingly has just about anything you need (except open water) within a 10 minute drive.

i was shocked how big and well developed it is now compared to when I was last out here in 2017.
