Why do GOP Senators hate TikTok?

I don’t have TikTok or Facebook or Instagram. The latter 2 because they work hand in hand with US intelligence agencies and I have zero doubt they collaborate to spy on American people without restraint. I don’t have TikTok because I’m not a 13 year old girl who likes Taylor Swift videos.
So why are gay Republicans like Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley so anti-TikTok? Is it because they like the same videos as 13 year old girls (or boys) and are afraid the Chinese, I mean Chinese Communiss! are spying on their music choices?

Tik tok isn't good for children or adults.
The content America Tik tok has isn't the same as what's available in China. Also, anyone under a certain age can't be on FB or tik tok after a certain time nor exceed a set usage time in China.
I don't think it has anything to what type of music Senators listen to.

Well, China communist China hates our freedoms that’s why they restrict when kids can be on that app. But in the US we love our freedoms. Especially gay Republicans like Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley. So I’m not sure why they want to ban an app that has music videos and people expressing their freedoms. I know Nikki Haley hates it because they spew hatred against Indians. But why would gay Republicans like Cotton and Hawley hate it so?

Well, seeing as that is exactly what China does with TikTok.
In their terms and services, when you accept them, you give them access not only to your phone, but every single electronic device that is connected to your WiFi.
They aren’t targeting the kids, they are targeting the parents of stupid arse kids.

I'm not advocating for China or how they feel about our freedoms.
They restrict usage and content in the best interest of the youth, I don't think it has anything to do with freedoms.

There's plenty of reasons to be against TikTok.
A. It's malware that the CCP can backdoor any time they want. If you've got it on your phone, you're OK'd that so they can do a LOT from there.
B. It's a propaganda machine they can steer to damage kids in the west. They have completely different rules on what Chinese kids get exposed to by their algorithm. Noticed any weird shite flying around Gen Z? Where do you think it came from?
It's not a kiddy app. It's a psyops tool. Probably the most powerful one in existence at the moment.

1. The very woke, very progressive, west coast company I work for doesn’t allow you to have it on any devices that also have their software, including your personal cell phone, and that’s the one and only social media app they have a restriction against. Even they are worried that it’s spy tech.
2. China does not allow TikTok within its borders. That should tell you something about it right there that they aren’t allowing their people to have it when they own it.
3. The twitter files released after Musk took over Twitter should have been a huge wake up call that most of these tech platforms are actively manipulating the people. And Twitter was an American company … I can’t begin to imagine the manipulation that the People’s Republic is exercising via TicTok.

I’m no fan of China but what can the CCP be doing with TikTok that our authoritarian Biden regime isn’t already doing to American citizens? It seems obvious to me that the bipartisan opposition to TikTok has everything to do with control of information and nothing to do with concerns of spying.
There seems to be a misconception here of the content on TikTok. It’s not just twerking and Taylor Swift. I use the app and the vast majority of videos I see are politics and current events, with some funny dog videos mixed in. These are videos that will never be shown on MSM, including many videos from Jan 6th that contradict the narrative being pushed by corporate media.

TicTok is a China spying on you. It should be banned.
In fact, I think most social media should be banned, FB, X, Insta. All horrible but TicTok is far more devious. It has access to EVERYTHING on your phone.

I don’t get why TikTok is head and shoulders worse than every other social media platform. China spies on you and can do blah blah blah. Our own damn government spies on us and admitted to recording phone calls.
