re: Why do GOP Senators hate TikTok?

Posted by PQuin on 2/7/24 at 3:30 pm
I’m no fan of China but what can the CCP be doing with TikTok that our authoritarian Biden regime isn’t already doing to American citizens? It seems obvious to me that the bipartisan opposition to TikTok has everything to do with control of information and nothing to do with concerns of spying. ...
I’ve always thought that Reddit was full of far left lunatics and it probably is, but I have recently discovered that opposing ideas might even be shut down automatically by bots. I’ve been trying to post unbiased questions over the last week and nine out of ten times my post gets removed. I’ve trie...

Structural Realism vs. Classical Realism

Posted by PQuin on 11/19/23 at 12:07 pm
I’m assuming the vast majority of this board would consider themselves realists as opposed to idealists in regards to foreign policy. I am curious to hear thoughts on the true motivation to power for nation states. Do you feel that the will to power is linked to human nature, or is gaining power a r...

I have a late 2021 MacBook Pro with M1 Pro, so hopefully it’ll be able to keep up. I’ll see what comes in the box and what I’m able to work out with it. I use the Logitech MX Keys which has its own software for that if the monitor doesn’t....

Ended up ordering the 57” Odyssey from Best Buy with plans to just test it out and return before the time limit (unless it goes on sale and I can price match). While waiting for that to come in, I was going to grab any other connections I might need to hook up the Mac and PC at same time. Would I ju...

I will be using both Mac OSX and Windows. Would it be possible for most monitors to display both operating systems, or would that be a feature only a few monitors have?...

Yeah I will definitely be losing some workspace, but I’ll be adding my Macbook to the workspace with the extra desk space I’ll have. I just didn’t want to mess with mounting three monitors, so that’s the biggest reason for going to just a single mounted monitor. I was going to pull the trigger on a ...

Maybe so, just going off of complaints I’ve been reading about those 49” monitors...

Do you notice any issues with text clarity with the 49” 5210x1440p? I might jump on the 57” if it goes on sale for Black Friday ...

I’m OCD about some things and I’m constantly fidgeting with the monitors, trying to get them lined up correctly. And then cats will move them again. Plus we have other uses in mind for the monitors elsewhere. Just an excuse to upgrade my work area and clear up desk space...

Ultrawide Monitor for Productivity

Posted by PQuin on 11/4/23 at 10:15 am
I currently have three 27” monitors (2560x1440 @ 165Hz) for my home office setup. I want to replace these with a single 49” ultrawide monitor. I am concerned about losing picture quality because I will primarily be working with small text in spreadsheets, etc. and will not be using this for gaming a...

[quote]With no road left for can kicking, the math is increasingly leading us into fiscal dominance. The more successful Powell is in shrinking inflation the worse off our fiscal situation gets. Debt shrinkage shenanigans are coming, likely in one, or both the forms described here. You might want to...
I had never learned of this until now but I've searched here and was not able to find anything on this topic. Donald Young was an openly gay choir director at Barack Obama's church. Young contacted Larry Sinclair in 2007 attempting to get identities of anyone he had contacted regarding the 1999 alle...
I know Vivek is not very popular here but he has gone into great detail about this exact topic. To be more specific, he went on Dave Smith’s podcast and cited statutes and laws that he would use to do it. It’s anybody’s guess what his true intentions are, but he’s clearly a brilliant guy. At the ...
Just to clarify, I chose the post title to get more discussion. I don’t believe the boomers or any one generation is the problem. It’s just frustrating to work so hard for simple goals and watch them slip away. I feel for future generations more than anything...
I see many posters take it personally when a finger is pointed at the boomer generation for driving this country into the ground. This is usually followed by attacks on younger generations for being lazy, etc. Of course this is true in some cases, but definitely not the majority. I would like to ...
I’ve always heard that these corporations use the donations as deductions for taxes. Makes sense why everyone jumped on board and it’s a great reason to say no. If I’m donating to a charity then it won’t be to the benefit of a billion dollar company....
1. Yes, my wife is Hispanic 2. Very rarely but it has happened 3. We make a real effort to see things from each others perspective and respect each others views. It has never been an issue and I think we both come out better for it The situation you’re describing would be an instant dealbre...

re: What bench are you guys using?

I have the Rep AB-5200 and it is really heavy. I did not think I would mind but moving it all over my garage in the middle of a hard workout definitely gets old. I would jump on the AB-4100 if I didn’t have the 5200 already...
