he couldn't see the cheese?

Oil not milk in that cheese.

I am completely ignorant to McDonald’s ingredients, but is there not milk in their buns?
I think allergic people should tell them I’m really allergic to dairy. And not just say, no cheese please. Specifically for cross contamination reasons.

quote:This is how I feel about it as a cook. We take food allergies very seriously and follow all procedures and guidelines, but if I had a severe gluten allergy, for instance (by FAR the most common allergy people claim), I wouldn't even chance eating in an American/European style restaurant. Gluten is everywhere. On everything. Hell, there's probably fine particles of it floating in the air.
if one has such severe allergies and can’t have cross-contamination to the point they will be hospitalized and possibly die, they should just cook at home.
I'll clean my area, wash my hands thoroughly, use fresh utensils, go out of my way not to touch anything else so other orders back up while I deal with it, the whole deal, but I wouldn't bet my health on there being zero contamination when I do it, much less some 22 yo stoned line cook at an Applebee's, and damn sure not from McDonald's or BK.
(as an aside- this is a giant PITA so if you just prefer to eat gluten-free please tell your server it's a preference and not an allergy, your food will still be 99.9% gluten free without bringing a busy line to a crawl the middle of rush)

He also said he keeps an epipen to help with his condition. Yet when the burger arrived, HE DIDNT HAVE ONE WITH HIM
WTH?
You dont keep one at your own house? Your girlfriends house? Yet you could die from this? bullshite!
Any jury that awards him a dime, should have to pay the judgement out of their own pocket

If you’re that allergic, accidentally eating a burger with a piece of American cheese on it is like walking into traffic without looking.
Should the driver maybe have been paying more attention? Sure. But the hit person made the decision to walk in the street without checking if a car was coming.

Any responsible person with this level of danger with food allergies would check their order
Correct.
Only an idiot would risk his life on a high school kid working at McDonald's.

Let’s see. I’m highly allergic to American cheese but I’m going to order a Big Mac from McDonalds(who everyone knows is bad with special orders) with no cheese and not even check it when arrives?
This about sums up what America is today. No personal responsibility.

Should have ordered Popeyes. No matter how much they frick up your order it will never have cheese

You're eating at McDonald's. You should expect whatever you order to almost kill you.
Posted on 2/7/24 at 6:09 am to SteelerBravesDawg
It’s not even real cheese
Posted on 2/7/24 at 6:12 am to SteelerBravesDawg
If I’m having an allergic reaction and can’t breath.. I’m not worried about taking a picture of what I bit into..
Let alone taking the time to set it on top of the box .. plus the fricking cheese is hanging off the side the of burger

He probably could’ve prevented it if his lazy arse just went to McDonald’s himself.
If the dude is so allergic to dairy, you would think he would check to make sure there were none there. I’m call BS on this money grab.

Did he not check it?
The missus (no picks) almost always orders sandwich menu items without a listed ingredient (usually mayo or tomatoes) and always checks (and has sent back many times).

Well, check your damn food sir
Posted on 2/7/24 at 8:38 am to SteelerBravesDawg
Can’t you just check it for cheese first?
Posted on 2/7/24 at 8:42 am to Havoc
I check my food for hairs because that is a phobia of mine, and all that does is gross me out.
I believe if I had a severe allergy, id take the 2 seconds to take a look to make sure said item was not on my food.

I would venture to say that cheese has no dairy in it.
Posted on 2/7/24 at 8:44 am to SteelerBravesDawg
I think if I had an allergy to milk severe enough to be life threatening, I’d have the common sense to check my burger to make sure it doesn’t have cheese before I commenced to eating.
Having said that, this guy is probably going to get a seven figure windfall from this.
