He doesnt need to at this point. Him not signing in December basically opened it back up. There was never gonna be some dramatic de commitment. He's never been a really ra ra guy or drawn much attn to himself or his recruitment.

Shea doesn't know anything he's probably less than 50% for his career he might get this right but it's just him guessing

It’s being reported Elko is taking a different approach then Jimbo did more of a Brian Kelly approach over the long term on how they preform over there time there then money up front.
Of course this recruitment is gonna be magnified so if they feel like they are desperate then they will probably resort to desperate measures just because the optics of this one. Imo

Seems like a nice guy (I don’t know him), but there is a bit of the “tell people what they want to hear” going on with him. Gotta make a living, so I get it somewhat.

You must have never raised a teenager. What they want at 5:42 on a Tuesday may change at 5:45. These guys report stuff and it changes and sometimes quickly. I don’t think even Bussey is 100% on his choice yet. Might come down in the morning.

That a nice little consolation prize to force an upbid. But of course, LSU will never screw A&M more than when LSU might supposedly hire Jimbo Fisher. The led to A&M to give our boy Jimbo that ridiculous raise and contract extension.

I'm not seeing the correlation. He's still technically committed to A&M. We're simply trying to flip him. (Not really simple).
He's actually been very quiet about his recruitment other than a few pics. He's not out there posting frequently, teasing each schools fab-bases. If he sticks with A&M, it's just "ho-hum" because that's what's expected based on his active commitment. He never de-committed.

And the best takes on all of this are 1) as you stated, it is not a flip from LSU 2) LSU has already flipped 4 A&M commits in this class at different positions and got a key transfer from A&M in Gilbert 3) A&M is the one forking over the big money which LSU can use on other players 4) secondary IMO is not a great position of need (21 secondary players on scholarship assuming no more outgoing portal guys and everyone enrolls)

This is disrespectful to Shea, as he has covered LSU recruiting with class and is accessible to us fans and those who subscribe to the site. Shea came up on TD; he is one of us. Good dude.
but shite, recruiting has changed so much. I dont envy these guys anymore. Reading the OP is tough. They don't know anything anymore, and they have to sell it to the people that pay for it.

I don't think anyone has ever said Shea is a bad dude or that he is sleazy or classless. What many of us have said is that he simply isn't that useful in his info. I have watched a couple of those podcasts and he hedges more than those surrounding Sanford Stadium. I'm sorry...he does!
You are correct that recruiting has changed a lot with NIL. Prospects get on social media and play the fanbases. Surely 100% of us will admit that. And with so much free info out there, as you said, it is hard to get people to pay for "maybes" and "wishes" and "60% confidence level".
