Toviano CB or S

What do you'll think his most natural position is? He seems built more like a Safety to me, seems more fit for it overall, he struggled some last year but so would any true freshman CB in that terrible situation, I'm guessing with the staff being remade everyone will kinda be starting from square 1 and if the staff feel he's better suited at S or NB they'll move him to his best spot, NB seems like it could be a winner, Thoughts?

I didn’t really notice him struggling last year. They seemed to protect him by hiding the man coverages or playing safeties on top, so maybe that’s a sign that they didn’t have full confidence in him.
I’m going to say safety because that’s what the coaches seemed to think. Maybe he’ll play that hybrid nickel role.

S with shades of nickel. He can't be worse than Sage Ryan as a nickel. He's versatile enough to move around.

he should overtake Sage this year.... Sage should have stayed in the portal... he may re-enter this spring... too many talented Db's coming in that are bigger and stronger...

I think this is probably right.
My guess is they will move him around some playing both in the box and out. Smart player. I'm glad h3 got his feet wet last yr.

Why does this keep getting repeated?
Sage was the highest graded corner on the team. It's not like lsu has anyone better.

Don't care but this boy needs to play...

He is a Safety. And the plan was to move him back to Safety. If that doesn't happen then we are in trouble all over again.

He’s a safety that has versatility as a nickel/dime type guy but playing him at outside corner is playing him out of position and not getting the best out of him.

I dunno...he looked pretty comfortable at cb when he started imo

Safety
Nickel
CB
In this order. We have 12-13 CB on the roster, and 9 safeties so he should be back at safety, his better position.
Safety Depth for 2024
Safety- Toviano, Dashawn McBride, Major Burns, Jordan Allen, Mathew Langlois, Joel Rogers
FS- Jardin Gilbert, Sage Ryan, Ryan Yaites, Kylin Jackson, Ausberry
If and when Burns get passed up, he might hit the spring portal, as he was not that good last year. Also, who might bolt is Langlois. We should have never taken Ausberry, but we know why.
I never want to say who should go, but we are over the limit, and attrition needs to happen anyway, and we can trade these 3 (or any combination of the loaded safety room, or 2 safeties and 1 CB, for 3 DL!!)

6'1" 201lbs with a 77" wing span sounds like a perfect CB prototype for Raymond in the short term while we built the talent up. Safety is more stable for now.

I'd be shocked if Major got beat out in the spring, and somewhat surprised if he got beat out at all. I'm no fan of his play on the whole, but a 5th year safety/ multi-year starter who just led the team in tackles (piss poor tackling team that it was) isn't getting kicked to the curb that easily.
As with pretty much everyone else, I'm curious to see how he develops with the new coaching/ new scheme.

Best case scenario is that he got reps at one position last season and the new staff can perfect the other. Great for depth.
