So the establishment wants him to win?

Versus Biden? No. Nobody would suggest that.

I'm arguing that based on his first term, the establishment does not fear Trump. Trump was very good to the establishment.

The Dems always say they REALLY WANT the guy they actually fear the most.
In 2016 Hillary said she was relieved that Trump got the nomination because he would be easier to beat. They just lie.

Haley's supporters are Never Trumpers, Dem Ops, NeoCon profiteers, RINOs and touchy-feely women, with a handful of honest Conservatives who think Trump's (undeserved) baggage negates his chances over a 'clean' candidate.

The cities can be burning and the heathen marching to their doors and that bunch will never vote for Trump. Trump even being the only proven POTUS that can and will shut that Border down.

Albeit the cities will burn regardless now, just lot hotter than the last the BLM/Antifa version. Deportations of ideological and religious fanatics and military ops will light the fire. Throw in the crash of the USD.

Yep. The thing the National Review conservatives, the Neocons, the small l libertarians, the Chicago school adherents, and the other “intellectual” variants of conservatism that remain Never Trump have to confront is that they speak for no one and never have. They’ve just been writing shite this whole time for other dorks in DC and NY to read and respond too

Trump's first term, the establishment flourished.
Assuming this is true, why then are they trying so hard to prevent him from running again?

Flourish means " grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.". Seems that the establishment would want this. Yet they are trying to prevent this.

Here’s a serious answer you don’t deserve.

I think that in 2020, the Democrats were licking their chops at facing Trump again.

I think in 2024, they’re thinking it might not be a great idea. It’s Trump’s election to lose. He should absolutely win it.

I think the “Democrats want Trump so they’re indicting him” is a little simplistic. They are indicting him to harm him and punish him. They didn’t think it would elevate his cachet with Republicans in my estimation.

Use Haley to beat up Trump and cause Trump to spend money to defeat her.
This is possibly some of it.

And the false premise the OP makes that all democrats share only one brain. It seems that way… but primary voters are typically stupid on both sides.

And that's the debate - the indictments, were they the acts of a frightened opponent or were they tantamount to Dems crossing over and voting in Republican primaries?

You'd have to believe the Dems didn't know things that were common knowledge on this board to believe they indicted him out of fear.

Clearly, it's true - that the establishment flourished under Trump.

And sure, they want to flourish. So it comes down to preferences.

Biden is preferred to Trump.

Trump is preferred to a conservative that might not be so establishment friendly.

I think all of this is consistent with Dems wanting Trump to win the primary and wanting Biden to win the general. What's changed in recent months is Trump is becoming more and more a lock in November.

I think there's a timeline to this.

If they were so afraid of Trump 10 months ago, why did Dems indict Trump when they knew it would help him in the Republican primary?

I think what we're seeing now is a case of "be careful what you wish for" -

No. No one has ever had a better chance at beating Biden than Trump.

If this is true, why did all of the democrats cross over and vote for Nikki in New Hampshire? Sorry, it doesn't pass the sniff test.

Maybe to those with TDS it is clearly true, but to the rest of us it is not.

Maybe they actually want to be able to govern the next eight months and could do so if Trump’s influence is gone. I mean, MAGA cult reps don’t want to pass anything.

I mean, maybe just maybe, dems care about the country rather than the Cheeto. It’s obvious Mike Johnson cares more about country than Cheeto.

Because they're lying! They know if they play strong and act like they want Trump as the political opponent it will be seen by their dumb-downed base of voters as a sign of weakness.

Not that Nikki is more beatable, but more controllable. If they can’t have Mushbrain, they can tolerate an establishment neocon as a placeholder.
