but he's a typical NFL retread.

I don't think anything about his career would be "typical" in that sense.

I have a feeling Morris is going to make people LOL'ing look foolish in a few years.

Just seems lackluster after the theater of a potential Belichick hire and Vrabel interviewing.

I'm curious how much personnel control they wanted

Who knows how it’ll turn out, but man, this is the opposite of an exciting hire.

Never change, Falcons. There was a small window in the 2010s when both the Falcons and Saints weren't incompetent. Now we're back to most of the 1960s through 2000s. Water always finds its level.

God, I wish the Saints had a real owner to take advantage of the fact the Falcons hired Raheem Morris. Instead, we'll trudge along with Dennis Allen and Mickey Loomis comparing him to Chuck Noll, Tom Landry and Bill Belichick.

I wouldn't go that far. I'd take Canales or Bowles over Allen.

I actually agree w/this.

I've been a huge critic of Blank of late but I'm actually glad that he didn't give into his fawning for Belichick and wanting to go w/the sexy hire.

Sometimes, a lot of times, less sexy is better and the best moves are the ones that you don't make.

If Morris had never been hired at like 32 or whatever, when he was clearly not ready, he'd be seen as one of the elite coordinator types for HC jobs. He's coached in a lot of systems under a lot of elite HCs. He's done 4-3, 3-4, Tampa 2, Fangio derivative, offensive coaching, etc.

The Rams had a lot of young late round draft picks on D and they were respectable this year. It's crazy what he did in the middle of a total tear down and rebuild.

Hiring Bill and letting him install a puppet front office would probably have underwhelmed. Especially when they still need him to go out and get a QB.

Seems like every black coordinator is getting a HC job.

Soon the only whites in the NFL will be kickers. ESPN will still be calling teams racist because there are not more black kickers.
