BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Former LSU football player Kayshon Boutte has been arrested on charges related to illegal online gaming.

The WAFB I-TEAM was first to report on the case Thursday, following a warrant being issued for his arrest.

Some of the alleged illegal gaming took place while he was an LSU player, investigators allege. However, a source familiar with the case said Boutte never bet “against himself” and his actions in LSU games. In other words, he is not accused of throwing a game.

Boutte turned himself in on charges of Computer Fraud, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of Gaming Prohibited for Persons under 21.

While he was still a minor, Boutte is accused of creating a fraudulent online gaming account indicating that he was 21 years old or older and; therefore, legally allowed to gamble.

He is also accused of illegally gambling, using that fraudulent account, to place thousands of different bets including some on LSU football. The wagers and payouts involved “several hundred thousand dollars,” said one source familiar with the case.

Just when we thought guy had turned it around and figured it out. Wonder if NFL suspends him.

Least surprising headline I've seen in a good while.

Arguably my least favorite LSU player of all time. God I can't stand that dude. Was so glad he decided to leave early.

Going to be a lot more of these types of stories I'm sure.

Becomes a lot more interesting if he bet against LSU.

Had one great game against Ole Miss during Covid year as a freshman, then mailed it in the rest of his LSU career.

Can't the NFL suspend a player for just about any crime, regardless of when the crime was committed? Have to believe this is going to result in the ending of his career regardless of whether or not he's suspended.

You’re going to really not like him now.

He's barely an NFL player - late round draft pick that was inactive most of the season for a bad team. Whether he gets reprimanded by the NFL or not, good chance his NFL is done anyway.

Why is it stated as Sports Gaming instead of Sports Gambling? Is there a difference or just using different wording?

I wonder if he needed Gordon's approval before placing his bets.

Nah, he was awesome in 2021 until he got injured. In 2022 yeah he had bad body language and considerable drop in production.

Oh, the horror.

This doesn’t seem like something that should be prosecuted after the fact.

The state sanctions the lottery and gambling, advertises it on tv, and then incarcerates people who engage in it. Boo.
