Steve Irwin getting killed by a stingray was shocking.
Bourdain killing himself while beating off in a hotel room with a belt tied around his neck is just weird.
Irwin getting killed by a stingray was upsetting, but not shocking… He was 99% bound to be killed by a crocodile, shark, stingray, snake, spider, etc…doing what he loved.

No. The man was at his base, a tourist, and a junkie.

Sure … I work a good deal in his favorite place in the world - SE Asia. I find myself following his footsteps in many ways - random food stalls, interesting bars, meeting people that don’t look like me or speak my language regularly and living a life on the road. It also can be lonely at times away from friends and family, so I get both sides of the lifestyle.
That was the straw.

This thread made me go back and rewatch the Croatia episode of No Reservations. Man the food and wine in that episode are just amazing. I need to try and take a trip there this year.

Yet in the end he hated his fans, and himself for selling out to become famous.
He had the natural talent to be what he wanted as few do, but the world stripped the joy of it all away.

I think annoyed is better than hated. I would be annoyed with 75% of my fans too. Bc they say they are jealous of the lifestyle he lives, but they are more than capable to find a way to live it.
