I saw this headline and assumed it was a parody, but nope. Seems the writers did indeed get informed there will be massive job cuts. Their response? Work stoppage and start protesting in the streets.

People really have lost touch with what reality is actually like.

Over 300 members of the Los Angeles Times Guild staged a one-day walkout in multiple cities Friday following an announcement from management about plans to lay off a “significant” portion of its journalists.

Oh no! What will the world do without a dying, crappy propaganda outlet!?

Where will they get their "news"?

How will they know what to think?

Oh Noz!! What will we do?

How do these people think that anyone cares? Where do they get their sense of self-worth?

Seriously… I want to know.

Do they know how easy it is to find freelance reporters or media contributors? Just in their market alone - there are countless writers that would love to have a steady gig. I hope the editors take advantage of this.

But then again, the hard left bent of the paper probably means that the editors and leaders are also on strike in support of the guild.

And they'll fall even farther behind their competitors - who already control larger pieces of that shrinking "print media" pie.

They should vote for a ceasefire in Gaza while they're at it.

Yes, a writers strike for a form of media that gets less and less readers / subscriptions each day because people don't consume news that way any more. What could go wrong?
