Late 70's.

Let's be honest. That's a good run
.

In 2024, that’s not a bad run.. im in my 40s, by the time most of us baws in our 30s and 40s get old, it’ll be more commonplace to live to 100 and late 70s will be considered somewhat young to die…….. Good health willing, and the creek dont rise , or some jerkwad doesnt come along texting and driving and t-bone us first .

That was about 4-5 hours ago, and his dog is still sitting in the truck and won't get out. Me and several of the neighbors and his family have tried.

Dogs are on a special playing field. I have one rescue and one from a breeder and both are such a core of the family.

Sorry for your neighbor's wife. Look in on her and the dog.

That'll be extremely hard for a German Shepherd. Their entire world is wrapped up in one person and their family. They form a very strong emotional bond.

Alex, I'll take things that never happened for $500.

He died with his boots on, never having to rot away in a nursing home while being a burden to his family. There are indeed fates worse than death.

My dad, aged 53, was trimming a bush next to his driveway when he collapsed. The neighbor kids were playing in front of their house and saw my dad go down and my mother run to him. One of the kids ran inside and got his dad, an internist, who was with my dad minutes after he went down. He worked on my dad until the ambulance arrived and rode in the ambulance with my dad to the hospital. They got him back on the way to the hospital, but lost him again minutes after they wheeled him in to the ER.

And that was it, he was gone.

My grandfather died in a duck blind while hunting with my dad. This was way before cell phones. Not sure who reported it or how the ambulance got there but my dad did cpr until they did .. which was a while.

I was six or maybe seven. I remember him and I remember being sad but now as an adult I’m so glad that he was doing what he enjoyed at that time and not suffering.

That’s just awful… dogs are very smart and loyal… they know when there is something wrong with the people they live. RIP.

Had a heart attack 9 weeks ago.2 blockages in LAD. Got to ER . Survived. Thought I was healthy until I wasn’t. 75 years old. If you don’t have one get a cardiologist. You probably need one.

My BIL mother died somewhat similarly, checking her USPS mail. Found her face down at the end of the driveway in a light rain in FTW a few years ago. Sis has put up with a chihuahua ever since.

I’m very sorry for your loss. This really hit my heart this morning while reading it.
I’m extremely blessed to have neighbours like you Lonnie. My wife and I have lived next door to two of the most loving people on Gods green earth for 34 years.
They’re both in their upper 70’s and in frail health. We know our time with them on this side of heaven is short and reading this has me in tears.
I’m praying for the peace of God to rest on his wife and children.
Lonnie, I’m praying for you, your family and those in the surrounding area to be all that his wife will need in the days ahead. That’s how expressing the love of Christ is demonstrated!
I hope everyone reading this has what you and I have experienced. Knowing and loving great neighbours!
May the Lord grant everyone mercy and grace today!

I read an article last week that if you happen to die in a house with cats, they would start eating your face within 24 hours and would eat all the skin and eyeballs within 48.

Not true and I know FIRST HAND. Or at least the ones I’ve seen it’s not true.
