High of 21 here today, would take that over an average day in August

my electric bill is lower
Since I'm on electric heat, this months Entergy bill will be higher than any bill from summer.

We have not been out since Friday,Jan. 13. Since then snow and ice have meant that people out in the country here (east Tennessee ) only go out for serious emergencies. Mail delivery sort of resumed on Thursday. But not for everyone.
We knew it was coming. Husband brought a lot of firewood from back by the barn to much closer to the house. I cooked and froze a lot of meals that could be heated on our propane stove top.
We haven't lost electricity so far, but I really wouldn't like this for three solid months.

it was a high of 37 and breezy here in tLandmass.
A bit colder than S LA. I cleaned my truck today in a flannel shirt and jeans.
It was chilly this morning but fine by 10am to me.
But I love this shite. Yeah -20 sucks big time, but I'd also be good with never seeing 90+ degrees in my lifetime

6 months of this past weeks weather. fricking love the cold. I was born in the wrong climate

People that prefer the freezing arse cold over scorching hot summer are weirdos and probably on a watch list somewhere.
You’re telling me you would rather have THREE months of FREEZING weather (32 degrees and lower) over a hot summer?
Like what the frick do you do outside in the south when it’s this cold besides hunt?
Walk?
Build a fire? Whoop dee doo
Some of you may work outside with 17 layers of cloths on. Sounds fun.
I literally cannot think of anything else.

Not that your opinion matters.

Absolutely. Also probably true on the watch list.
I think there's a level of cold that's not worth the trade off like Northern Minnesota, but I also think the Deep South is just the opposite of that climate during the summer and about equally as miserable.
To me, somewhere in the middle would be ideal - Virginia, North Carolina etc

So bad road conditions and frozen pipes for 3 months? I’ll take the hot summer anyway.

This past summer was miserably hot. August and September sucked so much
Posted on 1/20/24 at 11:09 pm to Turnblad85

Give me the cold for 3 months instead of the heat for 6-8 months. You'll typically still get your summer weather for 3 months anyway. People who don't like to experience all 4 seasons are abnormal.
