Pluto TV just added the channel “Super Bowl Classics,” showing complete Super Bowl games around the clock. It’s pretty neat and should make for excellent background television.

Peaked in out of curiosity. Right now they're showing the Niners whipping the Dolphins.

God, Miami had no running game.

Marino was something else.

But every pass incompletion would be called PI in today's game. 49ers are just mugging receivers. He sort of got screwed being in the wrong era.

Thanks! Growing up I used to love watching the NFL Films recaps of all of the Super Bowls on ESPN2 leading up to the game.

I wonder what kind of numbers Marino, Moon, and Fouts would have put up with today's rules? The answer is obviously a lot.

Super Bowl 20 on now. I knew the Patriots got the shite beat out of them but didn’t realize they had -19 total yards in the first quarter.

You could say that for a bunch of players.

Rice with today's rules would have had even better numbers.

Qbs from the past would have played a lot longer due to protection rules.

6000 yards would be a good guess.

There was a debate on the schoolyard, who was better....Montana or Marino?

And this game was going to solve it. Montana won and for years he was the anointed one because of rings just like Brady today.

But rewatching just maybe 20 minutes of that SB...there has never been a QB as talented as Marino.

He was blitzed all day and put the ball on his receivers hands...(often, with no RB in the backfield, rare for back then, what was the point? They couldn't run). But you could kinda tackle receivers back then before the ball got there.

Joe Montana got the love after this 1984 Super Bowl but looking back and rewatching...the talent disparity is insane. Marino is so skilled... He dwarfed his peers..

He should never get shite for not winning a SB...he threw dimes with 7 men in his face. He would destroy today's NFL.

He beat the '85 Bears and they just blitzed him all night and he still slung it....no worries. .Unbelievable passer.

The only counter is that defensive schemes, talent, etc… has come up a lot

He’d be monstrous still but there is some offset

You can watch a ton of older games on YouTube. Playoff, regular season, etc.

Some even still have the commercials that ran during breaks, which while I typically fast forward through, can also be entertaining to look back on.

Those IBM commercials talking about the future. Not sure they saw all this coming.

Could you imagine the 1999-03 St. Louis Rams teams in today’s NFL ?
