under the old, a large pickup truck would have paid a $3.82 toll. Under the new proposal, the toll for a large pickup truck will be 25 cents.

Tolls have been reduced across the board by 26 percent
Does not compute.

Are there any other toll roads on a major US interstates in the country? I think I remember one in Florida years ago.
Delaware.
I detoured off I-95 one time to avoid paying the $4 toll and ended up speading $80 at the liquor/beer store!

Do you pay cash for everything? Wait... are you my dad?
no. and i wouldn't pay it period.
YOu do realize that they will have to send you the bill in the mail? the mail ain't free, regardless if they make it look free for other gov't entities.
The cost to actually send the bill will cost more than the actual bill itself.

Sort of like the new Belle Chasse bridge
We are getting fricked so bad because of this. All because of Beau Black.

Tolling is how an entity gets paid for the construction and/or maintenance of a bridge if it doesn't have full funding.
I think everyone is well aware of this, but... And this is my opinion, but infrastructure should be one area government spends money because.. Well tax dollars should be used for projects that benefit the people who pay taxes.
But when you see everything that the government spends money on then they build something that tax dollars should go towards and then they charge people to use it. They find money to do whatever they want, but don't have a problem milking the tax payers. I wonder if Ukraine pays a toll?

Do you not think the bridge should have been replaced? Or do you think the toll was not the right idea?
If not for the toll, it's 30 more years before that bridge gets replaced.

About a 15 mile stretch of I 39 from northern Illinois into Beloit Wisconsin. And I 294 in Chicago. Illinois gets the people from Wisconsin one way or the other.

For 25 cents a crossing one way with a tag and local discount. I know it will be more for non commuters and out of town residents, but tolls are pretty much a way of life in parts of Texas and Florida.
At least it is not the Leeville bridge or the Causeway. The causeway is 3.40 for tags or 6 dollar cash.
The Leeville bridge is free for Grand Isle Residents and certain commuters like teachers and certain first responders; 2.70 for commuters crossing the bridge more than 20 times in 60 days; 4.50 with a Geauxpass; and 5.40 for toll by plate. Prices are about 10.50 tag/11.40 if you are towing a boat. If you are in an 18 wheeler or box truck, 21.00 toll tag/21.90.
Like I posted earlier in this thread, if toll by plate or etolling is going to work the toll tags have to become interoperable with all states and including instate tolling. I shouldn’t have to open a Causeway account and Geauxpass account like it is now even though they can use the same transponder tag. Likewise, the Houstonians and Dallas Cowgirls that visit will pay the toll using their Texas Tags.
Also, stiff penalties for not paying tolls which could include holds on vehicle registration at renewal time and transferring a title at the time of sale.

It’s not like they don’t collect taxes for that or anything
The Republican legislature has refused to increase the fuel tax, so no, you're basically taxed for maintenance of the existing system.

Drive from about 50 miles West of Chicago to Boston on I-90 and get back to me.

This is true.
But Ukraine is just a blip on the radar screen.
We just began sending funds and ammo in their direction.
But decades go by and we spend trillions on social programs that have no bottom. Instead they create more and more folks who depend on the govt. or who know how to scam the system.
They just passed an incredible infrastructure plan. How much of that though is going to roads, bridges and highways? Not much.
